Desucon Frotsbite 2016
(My first con since I came back from Estonia. Yay!)
This was my third Frostbite, so it’s a bit like a tradition that I go there with my friends. Like always there were some hassle, hurry and frozen toes. That is what you have to do for a winter convention especially if you live far away from where it is held (because Oulu is so close to Lahti).
I did not want to go through the same moving operation as last year, so I only took two cosplays: Too-Ticky from Moomin (my friend N was Snufkin) and Russia (Bloody Sunday-version) from Hetalia. Moomin seems to be a strong crowd pleaser and one of my personal favourites so it’s always a pleasure wearing that cosplay. It was only my second time wearing the Bloody Sunday-cosplay, but I enjoy it as well.
Nothing makes your friends give you the evil eye faster than suggesting a photoshoot outside when it’s - 20 C. But what can I say, I have seem to have very much willpower when I need it. They also were happy about it afterwards... at least when they could feel their fingers again.
In a way this year was kind of cheap. Of course the hotel and bus / train tickets cost extra, but in the convention itself I only bought few mangas and a wig (violet + silver) as second hand. I have no idea what I am going to do with the wig, so suggestions are welcomed.
The only shadow was that my eye was red the whole weekend, which made wearing contacts unpleasant and me selfconscious. I only could go to the doctor today and what do you know.. I have a wound on my cornea. No wonder it hurt.
I have never been that into the games in convetions - I cannot dance and I have no reflexes at all - but his time we found one that I really liked. I can’t remember its name, but for me it will always be Tap Tap Revolution. The idea in it is that you have to tap bubbles according to the rythym against someone. I want it for my tablet if I find it somewhere!
So in the end all I can say is that I had fun. Like a lot!
