Has been my headcanon since day one. Somehow I feel that he wants to feel like himself the way as he is with friends he makes with but he just couldn't. His dad was popular but it's literally the opposite for him, making him feel even less of a person.
Edit: during season 4 where his sister and him were going to the burbs, he tried to impress some kids like him while skateboarding. He fumbles and he feels like he never has any friends at all his whole life. He wants to be himself with people he highly trusts and craves a social relationship with others.
Also i have no idea why he has EYELASHES either in some panels for this specific angle of his. Idk if Chad Thomas (the illustrator) just wants to make it a realistic detail or smth else (if you don't agree with this I'll fix something)
and idk his room used to be pink like his sister Marcie's, then toned down into some type of red seen above. Or is that what the apartment mostly looks like when they first got there? Idk
Mostly he feels comfortable wearing pink clothes but I guess that's another one?? I have never seen him feeling embarrassed about it.
