The Amazing Race, Season 16 - Episode 4 Recap

In week 4 of Amazing Race, teams start from the pit stop last week in Estancia Fortin Chacabuco, Argentina. The Amazing Race teams must then fly over 8,000 kilometers from Frankfurt, Germany. Upon arrival, they must take a train to Hamburg, Germany, and find Jungfernstein Street, in order to receive their next clue.All Amazing Race teams are grouped fairly closely to their arrival in Frankfurt. Many of the teams then try to catch the 15:37 train to Hamburg. Carol & Dan & Brandy and Jordan just missed the train by seconds, putting them behind several teams who were able to do so on train.When teams reach Jungfernstein Street and get their next clue, come face to face with a new addition to the Amazing Race: the intersection where two teams must join forces in order to complete a challenge. Jet and cable are the first to reach the intersection, and join with Louie and Michael, who are just around them.At the intersection, the challenge is a Roadblock. One member of each of the two teams must travel by subway in Hamburg Harbor. There, the two competitors must complete a 150-foot bungee tandem. Jump off a platform in a very small dip upside down, which seems pretty scary. Jet and Michael easily complete the bungee jumping and Jet also manages to keep his cowboy hat on all the time! Amazing Race all teams can complete the bungee without too much trouble, though Brandy seems to be completely terrified during the whole process. A major misstep occurs when intersected Caite team and Jordan take the subway in the wrong direction. You lose valuable time when they have to change trains and get back in the direction that came from.Once bungee teams complete the challenge, the intersection is over, and returns to individual teams. The Amazing Race team must now find a statue of Kaiser Wilhelm, in order to get their next clue.Jet and power left behind in this phase of The Amazing Race taking the subway, while many other teams in front of the pack to take taxi. The teams discover that the next challenge is a detour, where they must choose between two German traditions, Sauerkraut.In Football or Soccer, Amazing Race teams travel for a 100 year old stadium, where they are required to kick soccer balls, in order to hit five targets that are suspended in half. They can not run to the finish, but they are required to make their penalty kicks back on line. In cabbage, the teams travel to a place where you have to eat a big plate of sauerkraut. The problem is that there is a band to play the Polka sauerkraut, while the teams are eating, and teams must finish their bowl of cabbage before the song ends. If they can not finish before the end, their flat is being charged. Since the teams do not know how long the song will be, the pressure is really on them to stuff their faces quickly. Joe and Heidi try to complete the challenge of football, but Joe complained of knee pain during the entire course of this episode of The Amazing Race. They are forced to pass the challenges when Joe is not able to kick soccer balls in the air to hit the targets suspended. This was a good move on their part, because it completes the challenge sauerkraut rather easily.The biggest upset of the episode occurs when the Big Brother alum and Jeff Jordan decides to challenge the sauerkraut. Their taxi driver drives them out into the middle of nowhere and insists he is correct, even if the questions Jeff him non-stop about the fact that they're going the right way. You lose a lot of time in taxis, and it appears doubtful that they will be able to recover because they are so close to the end of this leg of the Amazing Race.Things worse for Jordan and Jeff when they arrive at the location and sauerkraut are able to finish their plate full of cabbage before polka ends. They immediately get up and change for the Challenge Cup. Now, their fate seems to be sealed.Caite and Brent also in trouble in The Amazing Race Detour, where they choose Soccer. At first, Caite seems excited about this challenge, saying that she has been playing soccer since she was 5 years. However, in the field, something goes seriously wrong. Caite claims to have pain, began to climb the legs, making it very difficult for her to kick the ball in the air. Brent and Caite manage to finish the challenge at the end, but it is not enough. It is suspected that they are in last place, but Jordan and Jeff are really behind them in this point.After complete the Detour, teams must find the Amazing Race Haifisch Bar, where every team has to drink a large glass of beer. The glass is shaped like a boot (something popular in Germany it seems), and my best guess is that it contains 4.3 pints of beer. Teams are allowed to share the opening giant beer.Even if this is a fair amount of beer to drink, I was completely surprised by the reactions of most of the teams in this challenge. It seemed that the team was asked to eat insects - that's how they reacted badly to this task. I've never seen so many people have difficulty drinking beer! Jet and Cord was apparently never had a beer in their lives, and other patrons of the bar were laughing at them. It 'was so bad that Brent had to go outside, throw up, and then return to finish the beer! Steve and Jeff are the only competitors who seem to enjoy the challenge of beer. Jeff says "Hell ya!" When he and Jordan arrives at the bar. Although Jeff sputtered beer Quickly, as it did not seem to have enough time to save himself from elimination.Finally and Jordan, the Amazing Race team must travel to the Beatles-Platz, which is in the red light district of Hamburg. Once there, they must find a bar called Indra. This bar is the first place that the Beatles peformed in Germany. The bar Indra is the pit stop for this leg of the Amazing Race.After arriving on the back of the box every single week so far, Louie and Michael manages to get into this first leg of the Amazing Race. They won a $ 5,000 Discover gift card for coming in this first week.Caite Brent and think they are going to be removed, but I'm excited to discover that they are Team # 7 and that there is a team behind them. As expected, Jeff and Jordan are available in this last week. However, they are not sent home because this was not a stage in the elimination of the Amazing Race. Jeff and Jordan are psychologically!
