Fun Frozen Facts!
I’ve wondered for years about this - and while watching Olaf’s Frozen Adventure today, I was determined to find out the answer to my question.
And I did.
I wanted to know if Elsa is left-handed and if Anna is right-handed. I’ve read a lot of analyses and guesses over the years, but I still needed a definite answer and not just a headcanon.
This is what I found:
Elsa is right-handed. And Anna is left-handed.
Canon. Confirmed.
Source: One of the creators of the movie. It’s not one of those “I found out through my friend’s friend’s ex-boyfriend’s friend’s dog’s mom’s dad’s cousin’s ex-girlfriend’s friend who works at so and so” - I asked, and I got an answer. And this is it. This is not a headcanon.
I know that may seem really surprising to most... I also assumed Elsa is left-handed because Idina Menzel is left-handed and we saw Elsa use her left-hand numerous times when creating snow out of thin air... but she’s not a leftie. I also remember the book A Sister More Like Me and the illustration of Young Elsa writing with her right hand - and this book was illustrated by Brittney Lee, one of the visual development artists of both movies and someone who worked on Elsa’s character intimately.
Wow. She’s right-handed! And Anna is left-handed, and I don’t know why this fills me with so much joy?!?
Anna! A leftie! I’m noticing it now as I look at her pictures. She’s always grabbing her satchel’s strap with her left-hand throughout the movie, and in her marketing pictures, she’s holding the edge of her cloak with her left, and the way she holds the torch and the cup!! AHHHH!! EDIT: I’m adding this scene from FF with Anna holding the spoon because @anna26-love pointed it out! (thanks!)
AND ELSA IS A RIGHT-HANDED NERD? AHHH I LOVE HER!
LOL I’m so excited. Aw man, I can’t wait to watch Frozen I and Frozen II again now that I know this for sure. 😭
