Patchwork Friendship // Luna & Maya

The hot summer sun beat down on Castanet as if it were angry, threatening to blister any exposed skin with burns. A ripe plum could be left on a windowsill and in half an hour you would have a prune. Most everyone had sought refuge in their homes and businesses, save for a few scattered souls who dared try and trek to the beach or lake in hopes of cooling down. Only time will tell if they make it back alive.

Colorful streets that were normally bustling with activity were empty--save for one puff of pink and yellow zig-zagging her way between the shade. Finally, she managed to make it to her destination, unharmed, but not unscathed. Sweat ran from the roots of her hair down her flushed temples, and her cheeks were a bright red. She didn't even wait to catch her breath before stepping into Sonata Tailoring. 

Maya's eyes were bright and desperate. Whatever caused her to come must have been urgent if she was willing to brave the heat outside. Candy-floss pink hair was the first thing she saw.

"L-Luna!" Maya said, but her tone was small. It was as if her voice was encased in a glass box, and she feared that if she spoke too loudly it would shatter and break. Her blue eyes pleaded and gleamed with un-shed tears. 

"I need your help..."
