Another tale of ice and fire
Flame’s fingers rose upwards so as to allow him to push those sweat plastered strands from his calm visage, those sunset irises picking with meticulous care over how far he’d come with his plans. The adjoining passage that would connect his room with that of his leagues’ was nearing completion. However given that this was one task he had taken solely upon himself it was taking a bit longer than originally estimated, a fact not helped by how he still was focusing on controlling those unruly flames.
~~
However his queen or the queen depending on how she wished to be addressed at the time, was ever so supportive, even given the fact that the passage would remain a secret from all but he and her had gone ‘well’ given that she wasn’t into the practice of keeping secrets from her people any longer. Though given that the passage would let out through her wardrobe had been quite key in winning her over, since it wouldn’t be visible to the servants or staff thus allowing them to continue about their daily procedures.
~~
Though the blossoming guard was about to commence several procedures this day that left him within the throes of doubt, for not only did he have to address the guards that were under his beck and call he also had a meeting with the queen this day. A fact he’d been avoiding by throwing himself within his work, however as the clock ticked ever onward he was reminded all the more of the daunting tasks that lay before him. With lips parting and a sigh forthcoming he tugged at his crimson strands muttering. “Why can’t I just address the guards all day, discuss routes with the generals, I’m familiar with that.. We all know what happens when me and the queen are alone.”
~~
As usual no answer came from the shadowed areas; no sudden epiphany came over him. So now forced to part ways with the project he had so thoroughly thrown himself into; if only momentarily, he couldn’t help but brushing fingers lightly across the stone. For in these stones he had found comfort and solace, in these stones were a part of him, here in this room he had made memories with his guards, his flames, and even his queen on her sporadic visits.
~~ Then why had they become so intertwined within this dance of formalities? Why had an unusual not awkward simply an unusual tension begun to grow when they were together? A tension that had him clammy and unsure as he now realized he was proceeding to the queen’s chambers a fact that donned on him several moments late as his fist came to bear down on the door that was for all intents and purposes literally next door.
~~
“Flame sole member of your personal guard wishes to proceed with his audience with you..” Fingers slid through his hair as he pondered finally over how unusual it was to request an audience in her chambers . What guard met his league in their chambers? Why hadn’t someone been present to announce his arrival.
~~
Questions stemming from an dauntingly volatile curiosity were quelled as he pushed open the door that separated the too, his eyes falling instantly to the floor as he bowed his eyes taking on a lackluster gleam as he turned his internal switch on thus turning his emotions. However that warm endearing tone he had was still there lacing those simplistic words he spoke. “You requested to see me Queen.” A simple statement but so much he wished to say ‘why here?’
~~ Then lips moved once more as her guard it was his job to care for her so his question would seem usual or unusual depending on where she drew the line of his duty and the line of encroaching on her authority by speaking out of turn. “Are you unwell? Is that why the meeting has occurred her Queen Elsa?” No ‘my’ or ‘the great’ nor even ‘our loved’ simply ‘Queen Elsa’ for he was a simple guard the case to be helped the grudgingly accepted friend.
