Mountain Moment: Fryingpan Glacier Falls

Mount Rainier’s vast scale can outshine many of the details of its landscape, such as this unnamed waterfall coming off of Fryingpan Glacier. Can you spot it in the landscape view? The waterfall, which is roughly falling over three hundred feet, is below and to the left of Little Tahoma Peak as viewed from the Glacier Basin Trail. Perhaps you’ve noted the waterfall, unofficially called Fryingpan Glacier Falls, on a past hike in the area?

A Grassy Meadow Setting for a Stroll in Mount Rainier National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Yes, I know. A pretty nice backdrop too! This is out in the Sunrise area of the national park. On my last trip a few years back, I'd wanted to visit this area but couldn't due to it still being closed in early June. What a view it was to finally take in and see the views here! Amazing. So a friend and I hiked a few of the trails and enjoyed a nice lunch. That's what I wanted to capture with this image. Just another one of the many beautiful locales to soak in the wildness of nature with a look across a grassy meadow and Mount Rainier as the amazing backdrop!

Mount Rainier and Little Tahoma Peak Just Beyond a Ridgeline View (Mount Rainier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: This was a typical view of Mount Rainier that late Monday morning view while hiking to Frozen Lake. With the clear, blue skies above, the view to the mountain peaks were amazing...and I never tired of taking them in either! So that's what I tried to capture with this view: a canvas like setting with mountain peaks all around and beautiful view to soak in.
