Hey judge, I have a question. Let's say I play Shifting Shadow on a creature of an opponent and that I have Chamber of Manipulation on my side that I can activate (or any Threaten effect at instant speed). I pass the turn and at the upkeep of the opponent Shifting Shadow trigger goes on the stack. Can I answer to that trigger, gain control of the said creature and resolve the Shifting Shadow trigger to get one of my creature out??
No, what you want to happen won’t happen here.Even though you now control the enchanted creature, the trigger from Shifting Shadow is still controlled by your opponent since they controlled the creature when the ability triggered. Your opponent will resolve the trigger fully, destroying the creature and replacing it with a new one as normal. Word of Seizing accomplishes nothing here.
