Fresh or Salt, It’s All Water
Feferi was certain that she had seen nothing in the rules against going in the lake. The lake she now knew existed because of the pamphlet from Mr. Droog. But, if there were no rules against it, it must be okay, right? Either way, she would head over and check things out, stick her feet in. Maybe, if the water was nice, Feferi would return for a swim every now and then.
After her last class, she headed out and past the gym building. According to the map, it was just on the other side of it. The map didn’t lie. You could see the lakeshore from the basketball court. If the lake was this close, she might end up coming more often, even if she didn’t get in it. Still, the gentle waves from the wind taunted her and she had to answer their calls.
She took off her shoes and socks and left them by her backpack. Feferi also took off the ribbon holding her tentacles up, and let the appendages do as they would without the restriction. Now, without too much worry, she could walk in the waters. There was a slight chill, but the sensation was overall pleasant. Feferi began to walk, looking down at her feet in the water or at the lake’s scenery. Scenery that currently included one other student. ‘Well, might as well say hi,’ Feferi thought as the girl in question came closer into view. Besides, it would do Feferi well to try and make some friends.
“Hi there,” she spoke, filling the small distance between them. There was also a small wave. That was a friendly gesture that she picked up from the scientists at her home laboratory.
