Sea Turtle Conservation Weekend at my host @FSNevis has been on my bucket list for some time. . Two hawksbill turtles (now named Coco and Kali), discovered nesting at night on Nevis beaches near the resort, were fitted with GPS tracking devices (that will eventually fall off) and released back into the ocean. This allows @conserveturtles to learn where their habitats are in order to focus funding and efforts on preserving specific areas around the Gulf, Caribbean, Florida and elsewhere. Nevis Turtle Group and @NakedTurtleRum (every bottle purchased helps save two hatchlings) also participated. . You can follow Coco and Kali at tourdeturtles.org (which is a hoot). Nevis, along with St Kitts was officially discovered by Christopher Columbus. He named the island Nevis after the cloud that hovers over Nevis Peak. He was reminded of the snow covered mountains from home. This cloud was a constant companion with it's peak during our entire visit.
