💀 for what my muse would say upon hearing about your muse’s death.
“…I’m sorry grasshopper.”
Tears were shamelessly sliding down Bran’s cheeks as he faced a stunned Isabelle, having been waiting for her on the platform as the train from Three arrived. She hadn’t been expecting him to be here, he’d made that clear at the end of last year when he said he was going to be joining the fighting, and she’d made her own feelings perfectly clear: she’d thought it was stupid, she’d even left the room and refused to talk to him for the rest of the Games. She’d regretted how they’d parted, but now he was here they could fix it right?
“Why? What did you do?” she asked softly, raising an eyebrow in suspicion. Whenever someone actually apologised in this hell hole it was never for a good reason.
Suddenly, the world began to slow down slightly, a persistent ringing in her ears blocking out the most of Bran’s explanation. Dead, fought in the rebellions, died in Bran’s arms. She froze, shaking her head. No, River wasn’t dead. She hadn’t lost another brother, he hadn't changed his mind about joining the rebels. The last she’d heard he wasn’t joining the fight, he wouldn’t do that to Glitter, to his children.
She could hear Forrest and the kids behind her, tears beginning to form as she realised what had happened. She could hear Marley exclaim at the sight of Bran, immediately launch into details of the train detail whilst Gabriel tugged on her hand and asked a thousand questions about when they were going to see Electra and whether she would be able to take them to the park later. Forrest carried Hazel behind them, eyes locked on Isabelle as he noticed something had happened.
“I said no–” before she could even think her hand had reached out, palm connecting with Bran’s face before she even realised what was happening. Silence fell between the twins as they stared in awe at their mother, wondering why she had been hitting their uncle as Bran backed off. Tears sliding unchecked down her cheeks she didn’t remove her gaze from his face as a thousand memories of River alive, smiling, healthy appeared in her mind.
“You did this.” she whispered brokenly, backing away herself as the twins began to cry a little. “You did this.”
“He’s gone because of you.”
She didn’t remember anything further, the world going dark. Her brother was gone, there was nothing else she could fathom in that point.
