"Well, well, well... If it isn't Carroll's very own gold medalist." Aspen purred the words at him in that way she knew so easily got beneath his skin. He was one of her favourite cat toys, and with the utter need for otherwise proper behaviour with her grandfather in town, she'd been a little... pent up. This seemed as safe an outlet as any if she could just keep her barbs catty and her hands to herself.
"Too bad it looks like LA hasn't a very good chance of a cup this year. Shame. All that talent and such a shit team."

"I've come to make a dona- Oh! Hey! Sorry you didn't win the car." Recognising him right away as she'd gotten closer, despite not remembering his name, it was just luck of the draw that he'd happened to be there the day she had come. "I wonder if you might be just the person I want to talk to."

After being released from the ICU as her situation was deemed stable, Aggie had been moved to a private room on the second floor, something she'd been immensely relieved by. Still under observation from the head trauma and her healing from surgery, it was much nicer atmosphere here than the tension that lived in the ICU. Hopefully it wouldn't be long before Ducky joined her down there.
The last nurse had left her door open after they'd left, and for a while, Aggie had just tried to do what she'd done most, nap. The sounds of the ward both peaceful and strange in their unfamiliarity, she found it harder to sleep since she'd started to try easing off the medications.
And that's when she'd spotted him, or at least was almost sure she had, creeping past her door like he was hoping not to be noticed.
"Ashton? I saw you."
Returned of one of her hearing aids, the other lost amongst some of her memories of that night in a hazy, surrealist jumble like a dream trying to be forgotten upon waking, at least she'd be able to mostly hear him. What she did remember, though, was what had happened in that hallway outside the gymnasium, and the machinery still tracking her vitals picked up on the increase in her pulse. He was there of course he was, even if she'd ruined everything between them. He was that good of a friend, of a man. She shouldn't even have questioned it.

The weather was so nice that Aggie had spent a good portion of the day, just sitting on the front porch on the old swing, wrapped in a shawl and her favourite old cream coloured knitted blanket. The book in her lap was unread, the coffee at her side untouched.
A lot of heavy thoughts that taken over with the ache in her heart and she'd found herself tumbling down the spiral of losing herself in the accident. The changes in herself, the changes in her life, and finding it hard to pluck out the positives. Silver linings had always been Aggie's greatest skill, able to pluck them out of thin air if she needed to. It had used to be so easy and now it felt like such a struggle.
At least tomorrow she'd get her cast off, and that gave her something to look forward to. She'd gotten to see Ash and Ruth briefly when they'd gotten back and that had lifted her spirits enough that she didn't feel like she was drowning in the threatening deepness of pessimism.
As if summoned by her thoughts, Ash's car pulled up out front, her face lighting up considerably before she saw his expression.
"Ash?"

"Oh Ash." Aggie had left the very second it was light enough to see without her headlights, five am rolling around as her wheels had hit the road. Maybe going a little faster than she should, the high way was quiet, the roads mostly empty as the entire country seemed to be sleeping off the holiday. In record time she'd made it to his door, using her own key to let herself without so much as knocking. It hadn't taken long for her to find him wrapped in a blanket and looking for all the world worse for the wear.
"Hey... hey," Lowering down Agnes wrapped her best friend up her arms and hugged him for all she was worth. "I got you."
