{1977} A Christmas Miracle
The Lestranges always had quite magnificent Christmas parties. Alfred Carrow wouldn’t go as far as to say that he was a fan of any social event, but Rodolphus and Bellatrix always invited interesting and important people and he could always benefit about that. He had a glass of wine on his hand and was watching the whole party from the side.
He saw Amycus flirting with some girl and he smirked proudly, she was a hot little thing, with a generous cleavage. Alfred like his women young, that’s why his wife had been almost eight years younger than him.
His eyes kept on wandering around and saw Alecto who had just been approached by his business partner and old dormmate, Octavius Gaunt. She looked pretty, she had grown up to be a beautiful young woman. He could tell that Alecto wasn’t too comfortable with Octavius, but the man wanted to marry her when she graduated and since that boyfriend of hers wasn’t going anywhere, he wasn’t going to interfere. Octavius lost his wife two years ago and now he thought it was time to move on and find someone who could provide him an heir for a change.
Speaking of which, he noticed the boy approaching to him and he sipped his wine first. “Augustus” he greeted him politely, turning to face him, holding out his hand.

{1977} Dinner with the devil
Alecto was dreading this dinner, she didn’t want Gus to meet her father for the simple reason that he was a major dick. Alfred Carrow was a loose canon, she didn’t know with what he would come up with next, what he would say or do. But he kept on asking and asking that Alecto knew that if she said ‘no’ one more time, she was going to pay te price.
Amycus wasn’t at home, which was worse, her father always behaved when he was around. She finished applying her lipstick and sighed before leaving her bedroom. Alfred was there, sitting on the sofa and reading the newspaper. “Your boyfriend can’t even be on time” he scoffed and Alecto looked at the time. Gus said that he would arrive at seven thirty, but it was only a quarter past seven.
“Is not the time yet” she said carefully as she flattened the skirt of her dress, unable to sit down, she was too nervous for that. Besides, if she sat down, she became an easy prey.
“You’ve been eating too much, Alecto” Alfred said, scanning her body upside down. “That dress doesn’t look good on you” he said disapprovingly. “If you want to marry this boy, you need to loose weight” he said knowingly and Alecto turned to fix some portraits, her back facing him and biting her inner cheeks.
She could feel her eyes filling with tears that she quickly blinked away, not wanting Augustus to see that. “Of course” she managed to say as she fixed her eyes in a picture of her and Amycus. Those fifteen minutes seemed like fifteen centuries, but eventually, she heard the doorbell.
“I’ll go” she said quickly. She stopped by a mirror to make sure she looked okay before opening the door. “Hey” she said softly and pulled him to a brief hug and then pressed a kiss on his cheek.

Duties | 1977 | Alecto & Amycus
For the first time ever since she started school, Alecto was conflicted about summer holidays. A part of her couldn’t wait to return to school, to her safe heaven, to the place where she knew that nothing and no one could ever hurt her but then on the other hand, going back to school meant that she was not going to be able to see Gus as much as she was seeing him now. She was always telling her father that either Belle or Lucinda were inviting her over for sleepovers when in reality she was going to see Gus. She was always careful about it, but still most of her days she spent it at the Carrow manor.
Unfortunately, today she had to stay over. Her father had been talking about wating to have a serious conversation with both her and her brother and she had no idea what could it be. Hopefully it would be him having another business trip and leaving for a month or something. The years had made Alfred Carrow more horrible and with less filters. Alecto wasn’t an idiot and knew the way he looked at her sometimes, it was the same way he looked at his young secretary or young girls in pureblood balls. It made her sick to her stomach, but she never said anything and she would never do. She knew her place and a thing or two about surviving in that house.
So when the time came, she climbed down the stairs and headed to the dining room where they always had dinner. Her father was already there, with his glass full of wine and she immediately tensed. Amycus was there as well and it didn’t take a genious to guess what would her father’s words be.
“You are late, Alecto” he said sternly as she took a seat on her usual place. Of course she wasn’t late, it wasn’t even the time, but of course he would say something like that.
“I’m sorry, father” she said quietly and took her napkin and placed it on her lap, offering her brother a small smile.
