Nikolaj: I'm not sure if you are aware but even after you 'unlike' a photo, my notifications and emails still inform me that you liked it.

Indra: When are you free? I need a favour.

Alex: Hiya, Anya. This is Alexander Wright texting. Indra passed on your number, I hope that's alright?
Alex: I just wondered if you had a free minute to talk. Or rather, text.
Alex: Also if it isn't alright that she passed your number along then just say the word and I'll delete it. I promise I'm not trying to cross any lines here.

A day off. He wasn’t sure when the last day off he had really was. Now of course it didn’t really mean a day off of work considering work never seemed to stop for him. But it did mean that he could work from home and that he could take the longest lunches without anyone telling him to get back to work. Sure, he had lived in the city his entire life, but there were still so many restaurants he hadn’t been. Long before he was a cop, his true passion had always been food, seeking comfort in dishes of any shape or form as long as it had good flavor. The one he had picked out today had been on his list for awhile, he had only ever heard good things about it and he could tell just from the aroma in the air outside of the place that it was going to live up to the hype. Though quite honestly, as long as it wasn’t Chinese take-out for the fifth time in a row that week.
He had been escorted to a table by the host, quickly taking a look at the menu glancing at all of the options. Honestly, they all sounded great and it got him salivating at just the descriptions that had occasionally been accompanied by photos of the dishes on the glossy page. It wasn’t long before someone had come over to him ready to take his drink order. He looked up from the menu and gave them a genuine smile. “You wouldn’t happen to have any recommendations of anything would you? I promise I am not a picky eater so anything you tell me I will probably enjoy it. I just seem to be a little overwhelmed by all of the options.”

Amira: Okay, I have been patient enough. I'm pretty sure my pacing is going to drive Killian to an early grave, and as much as I'm sure you revel in the idea: I NEED ANSWERS
Amira: It's well into the afternoon. How was the date? Has he gone home yet?
“What do you think, Fi?” Nikolaj mused as he stared back at himself in the mirror, a neck-tie clutched in each of his hands.
He caught Katie's eye over his shoulder, her image reflecting back at him, and noted the look of amusement on her face. He'd decided to pay Sofia one quick visit before his date after he'd realised that the restaurant Anya had picked was only one street over from his niece's foster home. Her foster mother, Katie, had done nothing to hide the sheer, unadulterated joy she was clearly feeling at the sight of him going on a date. He knew it was a rare sight indeed, but he hadn't realised just how rare it was that even his niece's foster mother thought it cause for celebration. Ducking his head, he averted his gaze from hers, a timid blush colouring his cheeks.
“So, this one is red,” he observed, rather stupidly, as he displayed one of the ties to his niece. Frowning, he held up the other in contrast, and found himself leaning more towards the latter, even before his niece could get a word in. “Anya seems to like red, as I see the colour a lot in all of her photographs. But blue is much more my style, I think.”
After what felt like an eternity of deliberating at his reflecting, Nikolaj finally settled on the red tie – due only to Sofia's whining, and not his own, personal preference, before taking his leave and making his way to meet Anya. To say the very least, he was nervous; he hadn't been on a date in many years, truth be told, and he was worried that he wasn't quite up to scratch. That said, he knew his routine, he had his manners, and he understood what he wanted from the night.
Glancing at the passengers seat of his car, Nikolaj's eyes landed on the large bouquet of flowers he'd bought her; red roses, to match what he hope was her favourite colour. He would hold open all of the doors, compliment her just the right amount, and pay the bill. He would not hold her hand, kiss her, or enter her home, but he would drive her back and ensure she was safe and taken care of. He would be the perfect gentleman; stoic yet sweet, charming but not arrogant, and flirtatious without a hint of promiscuity. As the watch on his wrist ticked away, Nikolaj grabbed the bouquet beside him and slipped out of the car, locking it behind him. Patiently, he stood near the entrance to the restaurant, patiently awaiting the arrival of his date. His breathing was a little uneven, but so far he was following all the right rules.
Finally, Nikolaj caught sight of the gorgeous girl he'd arranged these plans with, and his breath caught in his throat. Eyes widening as she made her approach, a deep blush coloured his cheeks as he took in her appearance. Anya had clearly been following a very different set of rules to is own, if the extraordinarily deep neckline of her dress was anything to go by. Despite his best efforts, Niko's eyes strayed, just briefly, to the roundness of her bosom. As soon as he'd lowered his gaze, his eyes were back on her face, with Nikolaj internally scolding himself for being so crass and untoward. Shaking his head, he cleared his throat and offered Anya a warm, sincere smile, pushing any and all ungentlemanly thoughts to the back of his mind.
“You look lovely,” he remarked, by way of greeting.
He decided that charm and kindness was the way forward, even if her choice of outfit had taken him aback. Something so unchaste, perhaps, would not have been his own personal choice for a first date – or even a tenth – but he was willing to be the bigger person and let it slide.
Carefully, he lifted the bouquet and told the girl, “These are for you, Miss Anya.”
