Thank you so much for letting us celebrate your new edition with you! You will be the most incredible parents to your sweet little girl. May she have a life filled of love and laughter and a little bit of magic.
I could not be more happy that you are bringing new life into the world, and that you have given me the honor of being alien baby’s Godmother. I can’t think of two more wonderful people who deserve to be parents more than the two of you. I love you both dearly, and I know that I will love this little girl just as much (if not more) as I love you guys.
Prompt: My apologies, upon closer inspection it turns out that you are not the person I was hired to kill. AU
“My apologies,” he says, because he’s a decent human being, thank you very much. None of these ridiculous double standards and inability to prioritise what’s important. “Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that you’re not what I intended to kill today. So sorry.” And he offers a hand that, just seconds ago, was pressing a byzantine blade to her throat.
She is objectively beautiful. She’s got dark blue-grey eyes, crashing like a storm cloud, white blond hair wavy and loose, looking gorgeous even spread across the ground. It’s no wonder he has mistaken her for the Inferno half-demon freak he meant to kill. She lets him help her to her feet, laughs and dusts off her clothes – a skirt and a pretty top. She’s dressed for work, it seems, or perhaps a date. “No problem. You know, you should be careful who you threaten in this city – even if you do look like you could take out an entire town if it comes down to it, if people think you’re a mugger someone might just hire a hit out on you.”
He’s not sure if she’s joking or not, so he offers a smile, taking her hand to at least shake it. “Ah, so you noticed I’m not a local?”
“Locals don’t typically hang around this place,” she gestures to the building behind her. It’s largely glass and white, a sky scraper of sorts stretching up above the city around it. He looks at her in surprise.
“It looks like a place like any other.”
For some reason, this makes her laugh some more. “Buy me a coffee and I’ll call us even, Mister...?”
“Jones. Brett Jones.”
“Shania,” she offers, squeezing his hand. “Pleasure to meet you.”
“I’m sure,” he agrees, before looking around. “Where’s a good place for coffee?”
“Oh, Café 42, of course.”
Well. He isn’t sure how anyone in this city can be as oblivious as this woman seems, bringing him to the place he was checking earlier for banshee or death spirit activity. But if that’s where she gets coffee, then he supposes he offers it to her to buy her a cup.
After all, it’s not like she knows why he was after the half-demon garbage he intended to kill.
(Little does he know, she has a better idea than even he does what these things are capable of. After all – one of them is her grandfather.)
“Uh, hey. The only reason I’m calling is because CJ was borrowing my favorite shirt the other day & she said she left my shirt at your house?? Spare me y’alls dirty little secrets & just call me back if you find it. Please?? Thanks & oh uh it’s Val by the way... Yeah, kay bye.”
