chess was pissed. not at anyone in particular, but he was just in a bad mood. he’d invaded his sister’s home after he’d seen her car in the driveway, certainly making himself known as he stomped back to the kitchen. he’d barely taken the time to leave his mud-covered boots in her doorway. “ya got any sandwich stuff?” he asked, stopping to wash grime and what certainly looked like blood from his hands in the sink.
