trying to sneak in to see elena had become somewhat of a military operation for winter. so many people she knew being in the hospital at the same time was making her life harder than it needed to be. even though it took her longer than she would have wanted to get to elena’s room, she manged it in the end. she pushed the door open and walked through slowly, hoping the other woman was awake. there was so much about their relationship that was complicated but what wasn’t complicated was how much winter cared about her. she hated it, part of her wished the feelings weren’t there but there was nothing she could do about it. “knock knock. are you still alive?” she asked, joking a joke would loosen the knot in her throat.
it was only a few days before classes started. but if james knew elena, he knew that she was almost definitely already busier than he would be the rest of the year. he’d packed two sack lunches as he made his way to her favorite study spot. when he found her, it was with a smile on his face as he sat next to her. “hasn’t anyone told you that the semester hasn’t started yet?” but he’d heard enough about her with pre-med over the years to know that it wasn’t something you took days off from. @daybrevks

Oakley was waiting outside of the tavern, leaning against the wall looking for someone he recognized so he could have an excuse to not get a drink by himself. “It is so fancy seeing you here,” he called out pulling his friend or acquaintance-- to be completely honest at this point he wasn’t feeling picky due to his desperation. He ushered them inside with him clearing a spot for them at the bar where they would hopefully be planted all night. “What are you having? It’s on me today,” he asked them with a cheeky smile while he flagged down the brewmaster.
He should have seen the knife. It wasn’t like there was a particular set of rules when it came to the way things were supposed to go down, but still -- Val should have seen it coming. Now he paid the price as the hoodie was only going to hide the stab wound for a bit longer as he hurried down the street towards one of the few places that was open and wouldn’t ask many questions. Less if he pretended to be his brother. Because for some reason if they thought he was himself, they charged him double which left him laughing to himself ( more from the blood loss than anything ) when he bumped into someone on the street and nearly doubled over in pain. “Fuck,” he cursed with a grin as he cast a sideways glance towards the other person in question. “Lovely day to be out for a walk, don’t you think?” He laughed, a painful sort of sound even to his ears before he started to walk a few steps forward before he had to catch his breath. @elenasmorales
