— the lobster, ft. @randomantix jinhae spring flea market
"hold on, i want to check this out." seoho abandons his leisurely stroll in favour of a hard left, squeezing himself into the empty space in front of the stall. spread in front of him is painted pottery: mugs and plates and animal-shaped salt shakers. seoho keeps darting looks over his shoulder to make sure he doesn't lose haneul in the crowd while the girl behind the register wraps his purchase in pastel pink paper. there's no hint of recognition on that face, but she sure is very chatty while she's at it.
seoho rejoins his groupmate in possession of a brand new bag and a shallow bowl adorned with - what appears to be - a lobster, formed out of clay and curled up inside. "isn't this cute," he says, laughing. the bowl is objectively ugly. "she said you're meant to use this when you eat his brethren. put the shells in there." the lobster does look dead and ready to be eaten. "very morbid, like, imagine you're him and you just have to keep watching."
why did he buy it? because seoho is drawn towards conversational pieces that he can put in his cabinet and pull out when he needs a topic change, and he's never been able to resist the siren call of all things weird. new acquisition shown off, he carefully lowers it into the tote he's been lugging around for this exact purpose, so the ceramic lobster may join the jar of spice mix and the handmade soap already inside. seoho's a sucker for these markets.
