After literal years, Hugh had finally gotten the money in the town’s budget to make some renovations to the community center. Nothing major, but after one of the main pipes had burst the council had allotted enough money to keep the building from falling apart. Almost all the changes being made were structural which meant there wasn’t much Hugh could do now that work had started. Still, he liked to come around every so often to see how things were going and do anything else that needed to be done as well. He had made plans to eat lunch in the outdoor recreation area and check up on things afterwards. A lot of the construction workers would come into the area to eat their lunches where it was a little cooler with the air conditioning. Taking out his sub, Hugh looked up to see the general contractor, Joseph, coming into the area, most likely to eat his own lunch. Joseph had been the one Hugh had talked to the most about the renovations and was the best one to go to when Hugh wanted to check up on things. “Joseph, hey. Coming to eat lunch?” he greeted, giving him a friendly smile. “How’s work been going?”
