violet loved the beach. perhaps that was one of the multitude of reasons she chose to move to miami. sure, the beaches in maryland were lovely -- but, nothing compared to the warm sunny, sandy paradise that was the miami beachfront. she kicked off her sandals so she that her feet could be hit by the waves as the lap against the shore. “are you done working, finally?” she asked the other approaching the shore. she’d been watching lei instruct some kid for about an hour. vi hadn’t a clue how she did it. she was hardly coordinated enough to walk on her own two feet, let alone surf. still, she’d happily watch lei do what she loved from a very safe distance. “i brought you dinner. closed up the truck early tonight. and i got to thinking... picnic at the beach?” she said, raising a picnic basket. “and i won’t take no for an answer.”
