It was warm, there were people everywhere, and once again Civan wanted for little more than an exit strategy. With a fresh lemon twist sparkling soda in hand, he tried to weave through bodies and head for the quieter less occupied end of the pier. The other side of the stretch of vendors and booths promise a clear path and a view out over the ocean. Somewhere to regain composure. To catch his breath without the subtle press of people. However just when victory felt within his reach and he broke free to the more secluded, empty end of the pier his stormy blue gaze landed on another man perched along the banister and looking out over the water. If only a gruff turkish swear hadn't slipped from his parted lips, Civan might've been able to at least consider a retreat. Instead, he was stuck between multiple entirely undesirable outcomes. So, he supposed the least he might as well do was accomplish one small peace. Not getting swallowed back into the rukus of the Spring Festival crowd. 'He doesn't own the goddamn pier', Civan rationalized as he took slow purposeful steps towards the banister. He tried to steer clear of where Levi was perched, but it wasn't much space to work with. Banners and other festive decorations took up the sides and left them with only the very end of the boardwalk for room to really lean against the barrier. Against all better judgment, Civan spoke into the space between them. "Guess I wasn't the only one with an escape plan."

There was a chance of running into at least three people he did not want to when he stepped onto the property, but there was little Civan wouldn't do for his mother. Besides, the ill will was mostly a them problem — minus the ring leader. Civan scoffed to himself, unsure why anyone would want to hire a thief to work in their otherwise well-regarded restaurant. His one interaction previously with the woman who ran it had answered many questions in that regard, and now, Nia was on the list of people for him to generally avoid if possible. "Yes, I'm here to make a reservation." In drastic contrast, the resort employee at the desk practically lit up when she recognized his surname. It'd become a holiday tradition for him to put his mother up in a suite and plan a spa mini-vacation for the woman. She couldn't travel anymore, not the way she used to with his father, but it was a way to get her out of the house and enjoy herself. "Yes. The information is the same." Civan confirmed as they went through the motions, but just as the end of his task seemed in sight the young woman had other ideas. 'They've added a few new package options, let me get you a pamphlet.' Civan bit back a sigh and allowed her to turn away. The radio at her waist crackled to life, and his dismay at the quickly spiraling situation grew as she had to excuse herself and go help out one of the staff members. Assured she'd return quickly and he should look over the new packages while she was away. Civan did his best to not look too put out by it. Especially since he didn't really mind having to wait, just increasing his chance of... shit. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Not only that, but, in having his nose in the pamphlet given to him Civan nearly walked smack dab into Levi as he passed the front lounge. He sidestepped in time but it left him with little choice but to acknowledge the man. "Watch it." It was definitely his fault.

@levibecker Event: Halloween Party @ Golden Hour Beach Bar. Easily qualified as more of a social butterfly than her partner-in-crime Nia'd lost Levi in the crowd when she'd gone squeal-screaming toward Holly. Still, as she'd bopped around to locate several friendly faces done up with makeup or masks for the festivities Nia had also kept a consistent eye out for her taller half. Though the fact he was a human tree did her very little good in spotting him, as when she did it was sat bar side. With a grin, she'd shot him a teasing text. NIA: That doesn't look like much of a party over there 🙄 NIA: not channeling your inner dapper gent? 😎 NIA: I take that back NIA: handsome & brooding at the bar is in character Nia looked up from her phone to engage with her company. Then, as swiftly as was acceptable, she found a polite way to exit the conversation with a local business owner. Once she was free, the woman made a beeline for the bar. She slowed her steps as she approached, exaggerating the sway of her dress as she came to a stop. "This seat taken?" she'd ask but effortlessly slipped onto the stool without waiting for permission. Nia turned, knees in, and planted an elbow onto the cool hard bar top. Her chin fell into her palm and she flashed Levi her usual mile-wide smile. "Hope you were lookin' for company because you found it."

By the time she was finished going around to families and handing out food rations with Weston, most people were settled into the nooks and crannies of the gymnasium. The air was still filled with unease but things were less hectic than when everyone had first been evacuated from the festival. Nia was a bit mix-matched and disheveled, having acquired someone's overshirt to offer a semblance of warmth more than her pink beaded crop top could. It was big on her frame and her cutoff shorts vanished beneath it. A few rebellious curls outlined her face where she'd hastily tossed her wet hair up with a clip, but she hadn't let herself worry about any of that. Instead, scanning the crowd for familiar faces. She heaved a full-body sigh of relief when her gaze landed on Levi's back, his height made the man easier to pick out of the crowded gym. Nia made a beeline towards him, sidestepping around two older gossiping women in her pathway. "Excuse me." She reached to tap on Levi's shoulder and waited until he turned to offer a warm smile up at him. "I'm sorry sir... can you help me? I'm looking for someone. He's about this tall—" she gestured with her hand at his height. "Smart as a whip, charming, pretty eyes..." Nia chuckled and tossed a wink at him. A tired, raspy sound that stuck in her throat. Unable to keep up her own playful charade for too long. Her eyes quickly skirted over him, checking to make sure he was still in one piece.

While her legs laid out, feet up on the cushions, she'd turned her torso slightly to bury her face into the crook of Levi's neck. It'd been a long day, but breathing in his familiar warmth had a way of dulling her stress levels. "I think I'm cursed," Nia muttered. To be fair, this time around there was an entirely logical explanation for why a familiar face had shown up at the resort. "Actuall, no, it's not me... I blame Alex." She didn't. If she had every right to escape the city, so did he. At the end of the day Nia couldn't judge, and she wouldn't. With a slow, heaved sigh she managed to unbury her face and sit up a bit. "Any chance you're not particularly attached to Briar Ridge?" She was teasing, of course, still lingering in her own dramatics. Running again would solve nothing. That much she was forced to acknowledge. Sonny had warned her, and really, she'd known.
