She spotted Mari taking off her headphones in the quad, and she couldn’t resist. Mari was someone who continued to fly under the radar, Bella felt, with the entire Greer disappearance. Sure, people could point the finger at Kit and Jesse and Diego all they wanted, but why was she able to hide her secret relations while everyone else got theirs dug up? Bella didn’t dislike her, particularly, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t pick at the KKG president. “Ohhh, maybe some Tegan and Sara? They’re really popular in the sapphic community, did you know?”

mikey had only stepped outside for a minute, a quite, short, hasty minute to catch his breathe amongst the crowd of various smells and sounds. unfortunately, on return, mari was at the back door. he recalled the many times he shut down to her biting remarks at greek life parties, and so he took a final, long inhale of air to prepare. “hey, uh— hey, mari,” he attempted to interject among the chaotic noise. “can i just get by? look great, by the way. really nice...” his voice trailed off quietly, offering only a tight-lipped smile.
