Throughout his twenty-five years of living on this damned planet, Grey could count the number of people he would consider ‘friends’ on one of his hands. The only relationships his father encouraged him to have were based on blood ties, but what he learned rather quickly was that blood ties were just as fickle as the ones formed on blind trust. He would rather be betrayed by a recent stranger than someone that knew what made him tick. Otherwise, he would be no better than the common fool, which was what his father perceived him as after falling into the hands of the government.
After several years of concealing parts of him to appear normal, he had become less comfortable spewing lies and only showing glimpses of his real personality. He had been taught to blend into the background, but he had only stood out inside the confines of the government building that he spent day in and day out. Rare where the days that he stepped out of government property and be someone else other than Agent Grey.
However, ( @yexjun ) was one of the people that he hoped to run into on the instances that he did venture out into the city. He wouldn’t admit it to the younger man, but his presence made the bleakness of their environment appear less grey and rather allowed him to see the nature that stubbornly grew out of the pavement, or how bright the night sky was when the pollution shifted elsewhere with the wind.
“Yejun, do you bring that dog with you everywhere?” His annoyance was evident in his voice, brows furrowing while he attempted to distract the dog away from the laces of his boots with a stick. No use. “Are you two suffering from separation anxiety?”
