“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
Minkyung was once again greeted by the scent of tea and paper that danced in the air; a scent she very much enjoyed. Greeting the familiar face behind the counter, she stepped deeper into the old rustic book store she would venture out to whenever she had time to herself.
Her delicate fingers glide along the many spines of the books that lined the shelves; her eyes quickly read the names the authors have given to them. Her footing stopped at a particular one, her hand pulled it from its home as her palms supported it up. Minkyung opened the book, letting the words spill open as her eyes wandered on the page and eventually, she got lost into another world.
It couldn’t be true. Why would Dongwoo lie to him? He thought they were friends and could rely on each other. With a shrug of shoulders, he glanced at the other, eyebrows forming a frown. “Why?”, he asked in a calm, low tone, eyes fixed on the other’s. A lie was the last thing he expected from the male who he thought was very nice. And now, once more, he saw that people weren’t meant to be trusted…
She stares at him, no emotion really drawn upon the features. Actually thinking about it, canines sinking down on the inner flesh of her cheek. Fingers absentmindedly tapping on her lap. Wondering if she should speak up and give a proper guess or say the usual cliche answer of "I don't know, you tell me." It wouldn't be that fun to say those words though. So despite her not wanting to be wrong (due to her distaste of the guessing games or riddles), the woman's shoulders lift into a proper shrug. "Ah.. Nothing, I believe."
There's frustration building up in the petite female's frame, her entire mind was clouded with too many thoughts, stress and the lack of rest wasn't doing it's own justice as well. In fact, it's making things worse for her, sadly. The woman reaches over for the bottle of liquor that was hanging by the counter top. Bringing back memories that were recollected only to shatter into the ground, broken pieces were shattered and it's seeping through. The pain and sorrow was beginning to form and paint the clear canvas, her own bare hands were the cause of it all. Purposely, not accidental.
Fingers were shaking, her hands -- Naeun didn't have control of herself or so she kept thinking that. It just felt so wrong, everything was happening so fast. Pleading for forgiveness, apologies seeping through her mouth and nothing. No response. Because the female was currently alone. And surprisingly enough solitude wasn't that enjoyable for her compared to before, it hurts. The distance between herself and others but what else was she bound to do.
A fool who barely thought twice upon the actions that were displayed in the empty area of her apartment complex. Similar to how one would dance silently in the room, the expressions were escaping and suddenly there's relief in the heart. Naeun couldn't do such a thing, she barely knows where to begin. Crouching down to pick up the pieces, different sizes that were coated by the alcohol she once enjoyed. All went down to waste, it scrapes her skin. The color of crimson drips out in response to the pain. Mixing in with the clear liquid that's on the ground. There's tears streaming down her cheeks, lifting a shoulder to wipe it off and onto the material of her shirt.
Disappearing within seconds the moment he takes notice of the woman's current well being and appearance. It was concealed the best she could, with a faint smile of her own. The musky scent of alcohol lingers on the porcelain skin with an odd mixture of floral and her hands looked to as if has been dipped in what seems to be sadness and anger.
There were no words exchanged, a quick hello but he carefully settles inside of her apartment complex. He hums a soft tune in between the both of them, one that could possibly soothe the young woman's nerves. It's not working at all.
Dongwoo holds a hand out towards Naeun's direction once they sat down besides one another on the couch. There's a fair distance between the both of their frames and the space between them in general. The dainty palm was in his perspective, a mere chuckle leaves his lips. He wasn't laughing at the foolish tactic, it fell out accidentally so to speak.
Tears were beginning to form along her eyes once again, perhaps she's a fool for reacting and causing damage upon herself and a possession around the place. He doesn't mind, not even a question passes his lips. Despite the curiosity that lingers upon his mind, wondering what was happening when he wasn't around the young girl. "Please don't cry." He informed, glancing over at the companion who was right there. Because the pressure he puts upon the handkerchief he was using to wipe any access blood away was a gentle touch, it's not the reason why the artist creating the tears. "Please don't cry when you're alone, dearest."
A subtle nod is all she could give him in return, lips pressed together into a thin line as she uses her free hand to wipe her face stubbornly. Refusing to let anymore stream down her cheeks this time around. And the moment she felt an arm slip around her shoulders, the woman leans into the touch out of instinct. A shoulder to lean on, that's what he figured out -- it's what she needed all this time.
