So my grandmother grew up in Chester, Nova Scotia, which is the primary filming location for Haven, and my family spends the summer there. I found out they were filming at the Haven Herald (which is in the center of town) and decided to go and hang out there for a while in hopes that we (my cousins are also Haven fans) might meet one of the Trio. We had gone to see the Grey Gull, which is a few towns over, the week before and met Adam Copeland, who plays Dwight. We stopped by later that week when they were filming in Chester, and Adam was there again, so we didn't stay long. He was super-cool and the crew was very nice, so we figured that if we went and waited patiently at the Herald, we'd meet someone.
[This ended up being suuuuuper long, so I'm going to break it up...]
So we got to the Herald a little after lunch and they were in the middle of moving between locations. We sat around on the sidewalk for A VERY LONG TIME (seriously, it was over three hours). At one point, Emily Rose and Richard Donat (Vince) got out of a car and went into the building. So we waited for a while and finally saw one of the crew members we'd met earlier. We approached him and said hi and asked if there was any way we could meet Emily Rose (only trio member we'd seen). He said he wasn't sure. Around 5:00 PM she came out of the building and waved at us but then left (we were told it was for some special effects work she had to do). The crew member came back and said he was sorry, but Lucas would be there around 6:00. Lucas showed up in a car TEN MINUTES LATER and came right over (I guess it's obvious that two teenage girls and an 8-year-old aren't crew members :P) to us and a couple from Quebec we were waiting with. He said hi and shook our hands and asked our names and said "Hi, I'm Lucas!". So we talked for a bit and told him how we'd stopped by set twice and seen Adam both times, so he probably thinks we're stalking him now, but we came back because we wanted to meet at least ONE of the trio and here you are so that happened. He asked us if we'd seen Emily when she was here, but we told him she had to rush off. He asked us if we wanted to meet her another day on set, if we could just wait a second for him to talk to the producer. He talked to her and came back and told us that if we came back on Friday (so... today, August 1), we could meet Emily AND Eric.
Me: Wow, thank you! That'd be great!
Lucas: No problem!
Me: Except I'm leaving on Friday (true story, I'm writing this in a hotel)
Lucas: Shit...
Me: Yeah, I know, but thank you so so so much!
Lucas: Shit shit shit (I'm internally freaking out here)... can you give me like five minutes, I think I have an idea- I know where Emily is, I might be able to get her to come here
Me: Yeah, sure, of course!
*insert five minutes of me and my cousins whispering "Is he calling Emily Rose? I think he's calling Emily Rose... oh my god Lucas Bryant is calling Emily Rose for us" and having the crew stare at us*
Lucas: If you can wait like twenty minutes, Emily will be right over. She's in the middle of something right now, but she'll be over soon.
Me/my cousins: Thank you so so so much, yes we'll be right here ohmygosh thank you.
Lucas: Oh, it's not a problem!
Lucas left, insert twenty minutes of "Did... did Lucas Bryant just call Emily Rose... specifically so she could come here and meet us...?" "Oh my god" "I WILL NOT HYPERVENTILATE. I WILL NOT HYPERVENTILATE" and etc, except whispered because filming and twenty minutes later...
Emily Rose pulled up in a car and then ran inside (presumably to find Lucas and ask if the three extremely anxious girls waiting on the curb were THE three girls she had to take pictures with) and came back outside and over to us. She shook our hands and asked our names and introduced herself, and then she had one of the producers take a picture of us all and showed off her brand new nail polish, smeared it, and almost cursed. One of her old neighbors from a previous summer was walking by, so she stopped to chat with them. Lucas came back out to see us all and mouthed "OH MY GOSH" and then, since they were filming and Emily was talking, he was whispering to us.
Lucas: HIIIIII
Me/cousins: Thank you soooooo much! This is so cool!
Lucas: Did you talk to her? Did you get a picture?
Me: Yeah she had Noah take our picture. Really, thank you so so much for this. This is amazing.
Lucas: You're welcome!
(At this point, Emily turned around and Lucas started goofing off with a really strong fake whisper)
Lucas: Oh my gosh it's really her!!!!!
Emily: Jesus christ, Lucas, you're such a nerd
Lucas: Hey!
Emily: Hey, Lucas, check out what I did (she showed him her smeared toenails)
Lucas: Oh, fuck, Emily- (Emily hit him)
Emily: LUCAS. He said "duck", girls, I'm sorry...
and then they talked a little and we chatted with them and took a photo with them and then Emily jumped back in the car and left and we thanked Lucas one last time and walked up the hill to wait at the post office for my mom.
And that's the story of the time Lucas Bryant called Emily Rose just so I could meet her.
Also he's sexy as fuck in real life too. Oh my dear god.
