Loved the song the first time I heard it.
Is This It?, Room On Fire, First Impressions of Earth, Angles.
I try, but you see, it's hard to explain.

Strokes Colony?
Me: There need to be Strokes cults. That people can join. And live amongst their own.
Erin: That might get a little intense, though.
Me: True. Everyone would be competing to see who knew most.
Erin: People would like band together and kidnap him or something and the rest of the cult members would just be trying to prove they love him/them more. He better hope that never happens.

Sunday Shuffle
On this rainy Sunday, I was happy to have the Strokes' contemplative 'I'll Try Anything Once' turn up. If you read Music Box, you know that I am a die hard Strokes fan, so naturally it is never easy for me to choose a favorite song of theirs. I would argue that they've never released anything I didn't like. Even Angles has merit if you don't focus too much on their past albums. That said, I might say that 'I'll Try Anything Once' has some of the truest lyrics I've ever heard. In order to show you just how many of them resonate with me, I would have to post the whole song. I won't do that, but I will say what else makes this song is such a stand out. It's intimate and lo-fi in sound. When you hear the stripped down simplicity, there is a real feeling that you're close to Julian. He's kind of a guarded guy, and even though his lyrics capture the human experience better than most I have heard, none of them feel as closely personal as these. If you love the Strokes as much as I do, then you relish any chance to delve deeper into the core of Julian and the Strokes. 'I'll Try Anything Once' gives listeners this chance.
