1965 Shelby Cobra 289 “Dragonsnake” CSX2472. This is one of only four Dragonsnakes ever built by Shelby, it was extensively raced, and it is one of the winningest Cobra chassis known. The first Dragonsnake built set a then record 1/4 mile time of 12.81 at 108.95 mph. The second car was even faster, setting a new NHRA A/SP record of 11.81 seconds at 116.27 mph. This specific car was built by AC in England on an order by Shelby, but Shelby never completed the build of what was supposed to be a “Cobra Team Race Car.” About 6 months after Shelby received the car, two time Le Mans winner Ed Hugus placed an order for a “Stage II Dragonsnake” which would become this car. The car was delivered to the customer for a t otal price of *8,199.52 including freight across the country. It was sold again two years later, and that new owner put around 10,000 miles on the car while competing extensively in autocrosses and hill climbs where they collected somewhere around 1,200 trophies. The car was eventually restored, and was for sale when spotted here at a Fuelfed Garage Night in September of 2015
