Before the rebellion:
Diamond always felt unwanted. She knew her parents always wanted a son and she always felt looked upon. They never showed any affection towards the girl and she had been marked with inner scars from her childhood. It wasn’t a happy at all, as it may be clear. Her parents thought she was weak and too girly, so they hired a trainer for her when she was only 5 years old. She was never allowed to play with the other children around the District street, especially with girls. Instead, when she wasn’t training, her nanny had her taught of better manners and how to behave in public. Her parents were ashamed of her slow progress in training and never even noticed her words of hatred towards all of that. She hated the Games, she hated that her parents made her train so hard for something she would never willingly participate in. Every passed day got her filled with more and more loathing towards her mother and father. Forgetting her birthday on more than one occasion, they simply didn’t care.They never cared about how smart she was or how thoughtful she was. Intelligence wasn’t a priority. They wanted to see results in her physical strengths. They hated her for not volunteering for the Games, for being weak and “embarrassing” them before their friends and neighbours. She grew up to be everything they wouldn’t have wanted her to be. Skinny, beautiful, smart. They didn’t let her move out, so she stayed without complaining. She just started working with kids, teaching them those things she was never purposefully taught. All of them loved her. She was proclaimed as the most beloved girl in the district and kept on with her work despite the lashes her family gave her daily.
After the explosion:
During the explosion Diamond was somewhere in the woods between District 10 and 12. She had ran away… One day, as her 23rd birthday had been leaning to its end, her parents as always neglecting it, Diamond had it too much. Her mother backlashed at her new best friend, shouting at the top of her lungs about how awful a person Diamond was and how her goody-good mask was not fooling anyone. She was a terrible influence to the kids she taught. Taking a knife, the young woman ran to her mother and without a word slid her throat with all the rage that had been building inside her for 23 years. Her father, hearing the commotion, came in, surprised by the view. Before he could scream his throat was slit too. Then Diamond started crying in her bloody hands. She knew she had to get away or she’d be executed. She waited for the time when the Peacekeepers’ shift ended and they were tired, just before the interchange, and sneaked out into the wild, carrying a giant backpack with all food she needed. Walking long days without stopping, trying to keep food and water as long as she could, she found herself wandering away to District 10 edges. That`s when she found the two sisters in a cave, hiding from the world. Exactly what she wanted to do. When the explosion happened the three girls were paranoid and tried to go away, as they had seen the commotion on the other shore, and hiked up the mountains for days until they were found by a moving rebel group.
Nature:
Even though she was never allowed to leave the house besides for school she was rather popular in her class. A lot of people only befriended her for her money and she played along, even if she did see through them each and every time She is very smart and can read almost everyone like they are an open book. She observes and then uses their weaknesses against them. Diamond knows how to use her beauty to get what she wants. She is usually not a violent person, but she thinks all her suppressed anger is starting to get out after so many years. She is afraid of herself and does not allow herself to get annoyed, because she`s afraid of another outburst.
