Creating a Longer Ponytail
The ponytail has always been one of my favorite styles. It is quick, effortless and looks super chic. Recently I cut my hair and have to admit to missing the look of having a long luxurious ponytail.
Looking through one of my favorite fashion magazines, I happened to notice that there were long ponytails being sported by women that had short hair! I could not understand, after all they certainly did not look like hairpieces.
I started to do my research, and thanks to the world wide Internet, which has an answer and a how to video on just about anything, I found my answer. To achieve a longer looking ponytail when you have short hair, all you have to do is make two ponytails, one over the other as to camouflage them together! It is absolutely brilliant! And it absolutely works like a charm! Below are the simple steps to creating a longer ponytail for those short-haired girls like myself!
Step 1: Sprits your hair with a texturizing spray. This helps to create texture and will help you blend both ponytails together much easier. I love to use Kevin Murphy Texture Master Spray. It goes on evenly and it only takes a little bit to get a lot of texture and hold. Remember this will not work if you have super-fine hair; you need to build texture into it. It actually is the perfect trick for those with thick, wavy and curly hair. However for those without that naturally textured hair, you can always build it up with spray.
Step 2: Separate hair into two sections. Do this by creating a line across where your ears start.
Step 3: Pull hair into two ponytails, one with the hair above your ears and one with your hair below the ears.
Step 4: Blend in the two sections and your all done.
The idea here is that the lower ponytail gives you the extra length. Remember it is extremely important to blend in both ponytails for it to look like one! Good luck!
