One week later …
“Mommy! I don’t want to walk anymore, I wanna go to the playground.” you glanced down at your daughter who was pulling on your arm and bouncing up and down with a pout glued to her face. You released a sigh knowing full well that you would give in sooner or later so why not sooner? “Fine I will take you to the playground only if you promise to behave.” you took your little girl’s hand and lead her towards the playground. She was a hyper mess trying to pull you along and make you run. You weren’t having it though, you had a long day at work and you were stressed.
You rounded the corner and the playground came into view, “I’ll race you to the swing mommy.” Laycee shot off towards the swing and you smiled to yourself. You followed close on her heels, holding yourself back till the end, you were trying your best to stay cheerful for Laycee so you did whatever silly little competition she wanted. You were nearing the swing and you gained the lead turning around and running backwards avoiding her reaching hands. You suddenly crashed into what seemed to be a wall, the so called wall fell to the ground and you landed on top of it, it’s hands around your body to keep you from falling to the ground.
“Suho!” your daughter’s high pitched scream broke through the awkward silence and you felt the wall chuckle beneath you. You turned your head scrambling off of the body only to find that it actually was Junmyeon who you had ran into. You got up to your knees grabbing at him helping him to sit up, “Oh my, I’m so sorry. I should have been watching where I was going. Are you ok?”. He smiled at you reaching out and brushing the dirt off of your arm, “I’m fine. You don’t need to apologize it was my fault for being in the way when you weren’t looking.”.
You laughed at his weird kindness, a snort accidentally escaping, you quickly covered your mouth a blush flaring up on your face as your daughter burst out into a fit of laughter. Junmyeon chuckled while standing up reaching down to help you up, you grabbed his hand avoiding his eyes. When you were finally standing a pain shot up your leg, you flinched and a soft cry left your lips as you looked down at your ankle.
“Are you ok?” Junmyeon’s body moved closer to you as both his hands grabbed onto your arms holding you steady. He smelled like cookies, and dirt, him being so close to you made you blush, your face flaring up red. “I’m fine just a slight twist.” you tried to move away from him but when you took a step pain shot up your leg and you almost fell to the ground. “Mommy, did you break your leg?” you looked down at your daughter and opened your mouth to answer her when the words froze in your throat.
Junmyeon pulled you against his body wrapping a protective arm around you, holding you up, he decided to answer for you when you didn’t speak out. “It’s alright Laycee she just twisted her ankle.” he smiled down at her when the look of concern left her little features, “We should get you home though. So you can elevate your foot.”. He turned his gaze towards you and you looked down, hiding the blush from his sight, “Yeah I guess so.”.
It was a slow and really long process but Junmyeon helped you and Laycee get home, the entire way there you could feel the accidental brushes on your arms. It sent electricity up your body every time his hand would brush against your skin. You hated the fact that you reacted to him like this, you had promised yourself to not fall for someone so easily. Something inside you wanted the attention though, you wanted to feel loved again, you wanted someone to be there to help you.
You reached your apartment and you opened the door, Laycee bolted inside and went straight to your shared bedroom, you furrowed your brows in confusion. “Laycee, what are you doing sweetie?” her little voice echoed through the apartment when she replied, “I have to clean the room mom I can’t let Suho see it dirty!”. Your eyes widened and you heard him chuckle beside you as he moved to sit you on the couch, “I-I … I’m sure it really isn’t that dirty -”.
He cut you off before you could finish speaking, “It’s ok mine is probably worse.” he voice was a whisper making sure Laycee couldn’t hear him. He looked down at you and winked his smile stretching across his face, “Where is the bathroom?”. Before you could give him a straight answer your bedroom door cracked open and Laycee’s little face peered through, “No, you can’t come in. Tell me what you want and I will get it for you.”.
You couldn’t help but laugh at your daughter, you loved her and her crazy antics, “Laycee just let him in.”. She looked over at you and then back at him before coming out of the bedroom and over to you, “But mommy, my underwear is all over the floor.” her voice came out in almost a whisper but she spoke loud enough for Junmyeon to hear. You watched as he tried his best to hold in his laughter, “I’m sure it will be fine Laycee, Junmyeon won’t care.”. You watched as she rolled her eyes and made her way over to him mumbling something under her breath.
She led him into the room and into the bathroom and returned with a roll of gauze in her hand, Junmyeon had, what looked like, a spray and an ankle brace in his. He crouched down in front of you and lifted your leg up to rest it on top of his knee. He gently removed your shoes and sprayed on the cold substance, “What the heck it that?”. He gave you a side glance and read it out to you, “Pain killer. Supposedly the cold is supposed to numb the pain or relax your muscles.”. He turned back and slowly slipped the brace onto your foot before taking the gauze from Laycee and wrapping it around the brace.
“How do you know how to do all this?” he smiled at you as he place a pillow on the couch and place your leg on top of it. “I dance, dancers get a lot of injured ankles.” you internally scolded yourself for being so stupid and forgetting he was an idol, to you he just seemed like a normal guy. “Suho! Will you stay for dinner?” Laycee’s voice screamed out from the kitchen and you glanced over the back of the couch to see what she was doing. She walked around the corner with a chinese take out menu in her hand, she walk up to you and handed it to you her order already circled with purple crayon.
“Looks like chinese tonight. You wanna stay?” you looked up at him hopefully, a little part of you never wanting him to leave. He stood for a second and then pulled a faux expression of intense thinking, suddenly his face lit up and he fell to his knees in front of Laycee making her giggle and bury her face in the side of the couch. “I will only stay if you order something for me.”
Laycee squealed and jumped onto him wrapping her arms around his neck, “Yay! Yay! Yay!” she released him and snatched the menu out of your hands grabbing the blue crayon off of the floor and carefully sat down to examine the menu. She looked over at Junmyeon and studied him carefully trying to guess what he wanted to eat, he suddenly moved forward laying on his stomach across from her as he glanced down at the menu.
“I really like the color red Laycee.” Junmyeon put an exaggeration on the words really and red hoping to persuade her to choose what he actually wanted. Before he could say anymore she circled and item on the menu and his eyes lit up a smile gracing his features once more. He laughed grabbed at the menu looking at her selection carefully, “I guess you really are a fan of mine, huh?”.
“What do you mean by that?” you questioned him, your curiosity getting the best of you, “She knows what I like to order.”. Your eyes widened as you looked down at the menu, “Wait. Seriously?” you couldn’t help when a bubble of laughter burst out of you, you covered you mouth as you laughed into it. Soon Laycee and Junmyeon were laughing along with you. “Of course I know what you like Suho. I wouldn’t be a true fan if I didn’t.” Junmyeon chuckled at Laycee and handed you the menu.
When you locked eyes with him your heart nearly melted, you weren’t sure but his eyes seemed to have the look of pure joy in them, his smile seemed genuine and he seemed so at peace. You took the menu from him and scanned over the options reaching out for the phone to place the order, as you were placing the order Junmyeon struck up a soft conversation with Laycee. You wished you could take a picture of this moment, Junmyeon and Laycee laying on their stomachs perfectly across from each other, their heads resting on their hands as the genly laughed and talked back and forth.
You hung up the phone and suddenly Laycee shot up a shocked expression plastered onto her face, “Mommy! Suho says he will bring some of the other’s to the park next week to play!”. You looked over to Junmyeon who was now laying on his side, his head propped up with his hand, a smile on his face. “Is that so? Who says we will be going to the park next week?” your daughter’s face fell, a pout forming on her lips, your words had almost the same effect on Junmyeon. “I was kidding Laycee of course we will go next week.” her face lit up once more and she began running around the room screaming incoherent things.
Before long, the food arrived and you all sat in the living room watching a movie as you ate your dinner, Junmyeon seated in between you and Laycee. When she finished her dinner Laycee covered herself up with a little blanket and sat against the back of the couch continuing the movie. It didn’t take her long to pass out, her little head resting against Junmyeon’s side. You could tell that he was looking at you when he quietly cleared his throat drawing your attention away from the movie.
You looked at him and noticed the pink tint to his cheeks as he looked back at you barely speaking above a whisper, “Might as well join in.”. His arm stretched across the back of the couch revealing his side, you noticed what he meant when you looked down seeing Laycee using his lap as her pillow, he wanted to cuddle with you. You sat frozen in shock, you knew you were making thing more awkward that you should have but you couldn’t help it, you were too scared of your feelings.
“No thank you. I’m good.” you quickly turned your gaze back to the screen but you noticed his arm quickly fall to the side as his face scrunched up, you wished you could tell how he was feeling at the moment. He must think you are stupid, the movie seemed to take forever to end but when it did Junmyeon gently stood up scooping up Laycee into his arms. Her face rested against his shoulder, her butt being held up by his arm, his voice was in a whisper when he spoke out “I’m going to go put her to bed, I don’t want to wake her up.”. You simply nodded in agreement as he quietly to her to the bedroom.
You stood up, testing your ankle, the pain was very little and you could bare walking finally. You moved, picking up blankets and pillows and trash from dinner, cleaning up the living room like an expert mom. You picked up the tiny crayons and managed to fold all the blankets before Junmyeon came out of the bedroom. “Wow you clean fast.” his voice was still quiet from fear of waking up Laycee and it made you smile. “You learn to get faster when you have children to watch.”.
“I guess so. Thank you for dinner, I hope I will get the chance to treat you one day.” you looked up at him and quickly away a blush forming on your cheeks. “That’s not necessary, thank you for taking care of my ankle like that. It was very nice.”, you spared a quick glance over at him as he stood with his hands in his back pocket and his foot gently prodding at the ground. “I guess I have to go now, anyways thank you for dinner again.”, you felt sad knowing that he had to leave, you didn’t really want him to leave. You were growing fond of his presence.
You walked with him over to the door and opened it for him, you leaned against the door and waited for him to leave. He didn’t leave though, he just stood there staring out the door. Before you knew what was happening his hands grabbed at you pulling you to him and his lips crashed against yours. You froze, you hadn’t had a man kiss you in three years, the feeling was almost foreign and you never thought you would get to feel it again. You reached up and wrapped your arms around his neck, your eyes sliding closed and your lips finally moving in time with his. It didn’t take him long at all to deepen the kiss, sliding his tongue across your lips seeking entrance.
You gently played with his hair as you kissed him, his tongue exploring your mouth, and his arms wrapped around your waist pulling you closer to him. The kiss tasted like the sauce from dinner but you didn’t care, he was kissing you and you never wanted the moment to end. You bit down on his lower lip and he softly moaned into the kiss, he slowly pulled away from the kiss still keeping you close to him and resting his forehead against yours. You watched him, with his eyes closed as he caught his breath, your hands tracing the outline of his jaw. “I think I like you.” his voice was husky when he was being quiet and you absolutely loved the sound of those words coming out of him. You closed your eyes and replied softly, “I know I like you.”
