Not diagnosing my friend's kid over Facebook
A super close friend had a baby in March. I've not met the baby yet because we live across country. In the pics on social media it's obvious that her ears are lower than her eye line. She doesn't look like she has Downs but she looks so close.
A mutual friend of ours is very open about her child's trisomy diagnosis. I share that because we are surrounded by helpful, loving people.
She's never said anything to me about a diagnosis. Or anything publicly. But some comments about her functioning seem obvious to a diagnosis.
I'm not saying anything to her unless I'm sitting next to her and probably not even then. And if she wants it private that's fine. But every time I see a pic I want to scream 'early intervention!' So instead Tumblr...
Fumbler question - could she not know at 7 months? Would a pediatrician tell you if the eye/ear thing was noticeable or just wait and see?
Any milestones besides sitting up, crawling or holding a bottle that make sense for me to ask about? I'm avoiding her a bit because I'm afraid I'll say something. I love her so much I want to be an ally but not be nosey.
And maybe she's fine (and I'm crazy) and just doesn't look like their other kids. She seems happy with chubby cheeks and a smile.
