The passage of time is terrifying and I don't like it!!!
Technically it's more along the lines of 9 years if you count the original version (you shouldn't), but still. I haven't had much time or energy lately to draw so it's a rather simple celebration picture, but it's wild to me that it's been so long but it also feels so recent. It's still surreal to me that a silly little thing I made has had so many people play it. I cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
Terrifyingly related: December will be 5 years for The Witch's Puppets. I want to believe I'll be able to do something for it, but who knows!!!
Can you believe it’s been like 2 years since the updated release of Living Playground and then in December, 2 years since the release of The Witch’s Puppets? Wild!!!
To celebrate, I’ve dropped the artbook to $1 on sale from now until the end of December. This picture of Haze isn’t in it because I just drew it recently to show how I do one-layer painting in Sai, but there are ~50 pages of other art for your viewing pleasure!!! Or displeasure, since some of it is from 2012 and ouch oof.
It’d also be neat if I had more info on new stuff soon. But that remains to be seen!!!
Take this specifically-styled-because-I’ve-lost-control-of-my-life Tony noodle to spice up a very plain announcement: I just patched up a couple bugs in Living Playground that I found during my livestream, in addition to adding color-coded text for the fairies. Why? Just ‘cause.
The fixed downloads are live on Itch.io, RMN, and Gamejolt!
There aren’t many big changes, though, so if you’ve played it before, it’ll be sadly identical, just with a few less tileset issues!!!
ive followed your game since like, 2013 or something at kotoricon!!! 🌺 🌺 🌺 🌺 i wanna hear all the cool new updates!!!
THAT WAS SO LONG AGO OH MAN… also if you were the Zacharie OFF cosplayer I remember you and bless you forever.
Four Facts & Updates:
•I am currently battling my urge to go back and just gently spruce The Witch’s Puppets up in VX Ace.
Pros:
Everything is already made and would only need some light polishing
VX Ace natively supports video so I could not do a weird Compression Tango to get the file to both work and be not 500 mb.
I don’t think VX Ace will fail to compress games over a certain size like XP does.
I can add some stuff I cut back on just for the sake of time… maybe.
Cons:
VX Ace functions differently from XP so like. a lot of my spritesheets would need to be reformatted entirely
Ditto to the maps, because VX Ace has two layers of Map vs. XP’s three. But also: parallax mapping.
I would be again remaking a game instead of actually producing something new ajdflakd
It’s just something I’m thinking about!
Also in the Witch’s Puppets, this section…
was originally just going to look like this. I don’t remember why I changed it, just that I had the idea to while I was at work one day… so I did!
Non-Living Playground related: This was another possible variant of the title screen for Do Us Part. I wound up not liking it much so I went with the more stylized version that is the final title screen. I think this one is too… detailed, especially in comparison to how I tried to keep the game itself v. simple!
I made. Pokemon teams (& edited base sprites from HGSS). I do not take constructive criticism. However, this would need to be updated because of Sword&Shield because Haze would absolutely, without a doubt, have a Scorbunny and a Hatterene.
