So here’s a fun thing
I suffer from Simulation sickness. Basically what that means is that first person video games are quite possibly the hardest thing for me. I start by getting a small headache before it flows into full blown nausea, then being honestly physically ill and depending on the video game this can happen in a matter of minutes.
Bioshock series: Bad
Dishonored series: REALLY BAD
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 : FULL ON DEATH
Borderlands Series and the Like: Good luck reviving me I'm past the point of saving
Honestly any first person game I will guaranteed have a problem. I can get through Phasmaphobia with very little problems
Side Note: I do not get motion sickness. I can ride in a boat, cars, planes, roller coasters no problem.
This is a known condition and was first spotted in the military by individuals working with flying simulators.
Two theories I've come across in my research: one is that your brain gets confused because your eyes tell your body it's moving but obviously your not. This theory I find interesting because I am actually fine with a VR headset because I am moving around with my line of sight
The other theory is that your brain interprets the images as a hallucination thus believing you are poisoned and tries to rid your body of the toxin
I Have tried a lot of ways to combat this. Sitting farther away from the screen. Those motion sickness bands that go around your wrist. Even Dramamine the motion sickness medication. All of them worked for a time and on some games I can actually get through with one of these methods. Others not so much.
IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME what do you do to combat this?
