I still love Funassyi!

Hi there! Busyness elsewhere, plus nagging Tumblr problems, have made me neglect this site. That doesn’t mean I’ve lost interest in the Pear though! I still post about him from time to time in the We Love Funassyi Facebook Group, which is the best place to find me as well as other Funassyi fans, or nashitomo, who speak English. I hope to see you there!

Funassyi made his annual appearance as Funa Santa on Tuesday, making a surprise visit with Aicchy, Funagoro and Funyassyi at the Sakura Daycare Center in Funabashi. The Pear family distributed early Christmas presents to the children. In this TV news report (alternate link), the kids seem happy, excited and also slightly stunned. ^_^ Later on, Funassyi also made a surprise visit to Funassyiland Funabashi. I’m seriously considering moving to Funabashi…

Pictures of the 2018 month-per-2-day Funassyi planner. 2018 is the Year of the Dog, which is why you see some doggies. It is B6 size, and the retail price is 1080 yen including tax. Funassyi Bus Tour

274ch has announced a one day bus tour to take place in Hanyu, Saitama on November 27 - the Monday after the Gotouchi Chara event in the same town. The tour includes a Lunch Party Show starring the Pear(s), a tour of 274 video location spots (I’m not sure if this means you get to see them shooting a 274ch video) and so on. You must enter a drawing between now and 15:00 on October 30 for the right to purchase a ticket. If you are picked, the tour will cost 19,440 yen including tax. The tour is limited to 160 people or 4 bus loads.

Live events/appearances by Funassyi

November 18: 2018 Funassyi Calendar 5th Anniversary event at Toho Cinemas Screen 4, Lalaport Tokyo Bay, Funabashi; 14:00 (details on official calendar site). Reserve either the wall or desktop calendar from any Funassyiland between now and October 22nd to receive an entry sticker for the event seat drawing

November 26: World Chara Summit in Hanyu, Saitama (official site). Note that the festival will be on November 25-26, but Funassyi will be there on the 26th only. Both Funagoro and Funassyi will be there on both days.

December 1: Act Against AIDS 2017: THE VARIETY charity concert at Budokan, Tokyo (website)

December 10: Akiba Entertainment Marathon (AEM) Chara Supo Festival, Health Square, Hibiya Park, Tokyo - a gotouchi chara festival connected with the running of a marathon. The best place to get up to date info on this event is their Twitter account.

The Funassyi livery train has been extended until December 31!! Funassyi livery train, Shin Keisei Railway (details; official page on Shin Keisei Railway site).

Now there are Funassyi bus stops! From now until November 30, 5 of the bus stops on the Funabashi Shin Keisei route will be Funassyi-fied.

- December 31 The Misato station has been re-done in a Funassyi theme. In addition, in-station announcements are in Funassyi’s voice. Funassyi livery trains also has Funassyi-voice announcements during this period.

Products of note

At this point many of the new and cool Funassyi products are available exclusively at the Funassyiland stores, with the exception of books, calendars etc. Which is good I guess if you live in Japan, since it’s one-stop shopping, but somewhat inconvenient for overseas Funassyi fans, since Funassyiland does not ship overseas. If you don’t have a cooperative friend in Japan, I recommend using a shopping service.

Grey Parka Service has announced a 120cm tall Funassyi, retailing for 41,000 yen including tax. The first phase has already sold out - the next phase will be available sometime in January.

274ch.com, Funassyi’s official streaming video channel/fan club, is the main outlet for Funassyi’s video appearances. Videos are uploaded every couple of days, and are very funny, with Funassyi appearing far more loose and relaxed than he is on broadcast TV. Highlights include a cooking show, Funassyi imitating various Japanese entertainers (his imitation of Beat Takeshi aka Takeshi Kitano is priceless), Funassyi going camping, Funassyi going go-cart racing, and much more. There are also frequent live streams of The Pear doing interviews and so on.

There are also fan-exclusive meets with Funassyi, and fan-exclusive concerts too, such as the upcoming Zetsu Bushaa Tour (see schedule above).

Membership is 600 yen per month or 6,000 yen per year. You can now join from outside of Japan too, although the site is in Japanese only (and so is customer support and so on). Details here. You will most likely need a Japanese mailing address to receive materials from the site for now.

Note: Sometimes someone at the streaming video provider seems to turn on IP checking/blocking of non-Japanese IPs. If you can’t access the videos, just wait a few hours and it will usually get fixed.

Last but not least…

I know the updates here have less frequent of late. I have some serious health problems which make it hard to sit at my desk for extended periods - and I find it very hard to update Tumblr via my phone.
