Ella Baker. A beautiful soul and fierce activist. Her fight spanned five decades and she worked with or mentored every 60s activists you care to name. Her nickname was Fundi, a Swahili word meaning someone who teaches a craft to the next generation. She was critical of the idea of charismatic, powerful leaders and believed in the power of the people to understand their world and take action. She advocated for grass roots organization and radical democracy. A true champion of human rights.
