omg what happened with 21p??? tyler being racist????????? what? i am so out of the loop
21p released a single today called lane boy (lyrics are in the description box of the video)
and the main premise of the song is a sort of response to tyler being told to ‘stay in his lane’. he responds by saying that music isnt a highway and he can go where he wants
I wasn't raised in the hood,But I know a thing or two about pain and darkness,If it wasn't for this music I don’t know how I would have fought this
and the whole ‘i wasnt raised in the hood’ line personally reminds ME of the phrase ‘were you raised in a barn’, but either way it sounds to me like he’s insinuating 1 of 2 things... the line by itself makes it seem like being raised in the hood is a bad thing, but then when you look at it in context it seems like he’s saying ‘well, i wasn’t raised in the hood (which is a dark and scary place) BUT IVE STILL EXPERIENCED PAIN AND BAD THINGS!!!’ and then he says that if he didnt have this music he would be bad off. to me it sounds like he’s being defensive, he’s trying to justify his usage of rap and trying to blow off the people telling him to stay in his lane
Regardless, all these songs I’m hearing are so heartless,Don’t trust a perfect person and don’t trust a song that’s flawless
WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY A DIG AT FLAWLESS AND BEYONCE. WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS???/ even if you dont like beyonce hes also saying.... not to trust a black woman? ok tyler
and as ricky pointed out here, the song seems to be borrowing some sort of reggae style?? and he explained why that (and the whole thing) are gross. i also hear that tyler is doing some sort of accent... to me, im sort of getting reminded of rude boy by rihanna? maybe that’s just because they both repeat boy in the chorus, but whatever
all in all there’s some serious anti-blackness going on here and i hope people call this out cuz its gross
