Drawing family photos for SBI has got me thinking about appearances and Lore, so have some hair-related headcanons:

Phil used to wear his hair long- he ended up cutting it before Tommy joined the family, but Wil and Techno remember what it used to look like. Techno grew his hair out as he got older because of Phil.

Phil taught Techno how to braid hair. After finding out, Wilbur and Tommy went to Phil and demanded that he teach them, too. Wilbur learned relatively quickly, although more complex braids evade him. Tommy tried once and knotted up Techno’s hair so badly that it took two whole hours to fix. The small braid in Techno’s hair was done by Wilbur.

(After Wilbur died, Techno drew his sword and nearly cut it off- he sat there for hours, sword in hand and pulling at the braid until his scalp went numb-)

Fundy has more of his grandfather’s stick-straight hair than Wilbur’s floof. When he was younger, he wore it longer and had it in a small ponytail. Now that he’s cut it shorter, it looks almost identical to Phil’s (minus the color ofc)

Tommy, in an effort to be a good uncle, once offered to braid Fundy’s hair. (“Wha- no! I’m not letting you traumatize my son!” “Traumatize? Bitch- I know how to braid hair!” “Tell that to Techno-” “That was a fluke and you know it-”)

Tommy actually does know how to braid hair- Tubbo ended up teaching him. (It took him a few weeks, though.)
