Funhouse Massacre (2015) [Repost] So this random film was selected when looking for a horror film on Netflix. The trailer looked interesting, and it seemed like a decent shout. It turned out to be surprisingly good! A journalist visits a secluded asylum to conduct an interview with the head of the building. She visits 5 of the inmates and is led around by the man in charge. However all is not what it seems and neither is the journalist. The film follows the inmates to a funhouse where they are all part of a haunted house, with a twist. I found the film enjoyable, I really did, it was interesting, it threw in some twists and turns, it was just an all round easy watch. Saying that, do not watch this film and expect anything special, it’s character development is pretty minimal, it doesn’t really expand any stories, the criminals aren’t explored and it’s a pretty much one time watch. Another thing I found was that I wasn’t quite sure of what genre this was, it blurs the lines between the two and is very stereotypical of it’s sort. After watching, I seen it was Horror/Comedy, but I thought it took itself too serious to be a comedy, so it was a bit confusing at times, though it did manage to pull a few laughs from me! It’s a really easy watch. Some films now can be too intense, and have too many plots, and thick storylines with crossovers where they don’t need to be, and whilst I feel they could have added a bit more to some of the story here, they didn’t overdo it, which allowed the film to flourish in its simple bloody nature. Overall it’s definitely worth a watch, it’s a fun film, with plenty of gore. An easy watch if you’re looking for something to put on in the evening and just have a film to laugh and wince at.
