blunts to planes
my highstory: I started smoking my freshman year of college. I went to an hbcu in a very black city, so for the first few years, I only smoked with other black people and those black people primarily smoked blunts. My vessel of choice was a swisher sweet (preferably strawberry or blueberry), but since I smoked with a lot of different crowds I ended up smoking dutchmasters, garcia vegas, white owls, backwoods, etc. Until late my junior year, I had primarily smoked blunts or out of the occasional bowl/bong/piece of fruit. For whatever reason, I stole a pack of bob marley papers from a friend’s house, and once I had them I was determined to roll a joint (still not sure why). I watched youtube videos and tried a few times and they were all fails until I figured out that if I used two papers, my joints would smoke pretty decently--it was all just so dumb. I quickly gave up on papers and focused on mastering the art of blunt rolling.
fast-forward to earlier this year: I came across a youtube page of a girl trying out different papers, and she actually rolled up on camera. As I mentioned, I’ve watched videos of people rolling joints and even though I never used a filter, I was aware that they existed and what they were for. I had never, however, seen a glass filter before (just cardboard zig-zags and shit) and watching her use it to roll her joints completely blew my mind. After seeing her use it and listening to her reviews of the different rolling papers, I realized I could probably figure it out and decided to give joints another chance.
The first joint I rolled this year was using a king size cellulose trip2 paper and I’ve become absolutely obsessed with them. They obviously look cool as fuck but they smoke really well and don’t emit that gross burning plastic smell I expected. The one in the pic was actually the first or second joint I rolled right before I closed it off.
Since then, I’ve used cotton candy papers and herbal cones, but have a lot more I’m looking to try. I’ll probably end up posting info about papers I try and how I like them. Still on the journey, but I’m excited to get away from tobacco and start trying new things. If you have any papers you really like or think I should try, definitely let me know!
