The body can feel like a paragon of organic archetypes—aesthetically, it seems near perfect. Of course, coupled to its haute expression of natural geometries is its function as shell for psyche. We use the body for more than fleshy interface, do more than simply admire it as a piece of evolutionary achievement: it is used as a tool for communication, as a magic charm, as a ramp to riches, as a medium for proving worth. Funnylens Um’s work seems to take a deconstructive look not just at the beauty of form, but also at the value we have chosen to give it, delving deeply into the effects that extra-natural value have had on body and mind.
