'10 Things You Should Know... about Dating a Korean' (From Sparkling Magazine)
Hello, loves! ♥ I was browsing my stuffs and found my Sparkling Magazine issue no. 4. It’s a KPop magazine here in the Philippines, actually. Then I browsed it again and found this article. I just want to share this with you, fellow fan girls. YEAH, FAN GIRLS ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN RELATE TO THIS. But boys, read at your own risk!
10 Things You Should Know… about Dating a Korean
Thanks to the Hallyu wave, more girls have become interested in Korean guys. See if you can get on the wavelength and find a real-life Prince Charming.
By Kring Elenzano (www.mykoreanboyfriend.com)
1. KOREA IS JJANG!
Koreans are tremendously proud of their country. Your guy will most likely insist that Korea has the best cars, electronic companies, beef, internet connection, and figure skater— among many others. You don’t need to agree, but you have to get used to it.
2. HANGUKEO AND HANGEUL
You shouldn’t be forced to learn the Korean language— especially since it’s one of the hardest to master— but yes, it will come in handy! You may start by learning Hangeul (Korean alphabet) and memorizing some basic greetings and words.
3. COOKING
They say the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but trust us, if you learn to whip up some Korean dishes for him, he’ll be yours to keep!
4. GUNBEI!
Koreans love their soju (and beer, and makgeolli), so better be prepared. Most of the time, drinking with friends and colleagues is their way to bond and become closer. If you get invited, you’re expected to drink, especially if seniors offer.
5. I LOVE YOU
Saranghae (“I love you”) is an important phrase for Koreans, and you won’t hear them saying it a lot— they use joahae (“I like you”) instead. However, on the rare occasions that he utters those three magical words, you’ll surely melt with kilig!
6. COMPARISON
Korean men know how to take care of themselves: They accounted for 18% of the world’s male skin care market, and men’s clothing sales were higher than women last year. Be prepared to wait for your guy outside the bathroom while he fixes his hair!
7. MILDANG
Short for milgo danggigi, which means “push and pull.” Don’t be all over your Korean guy and show him how crazy in love you are; instead, have days when you seem to not care at all, making them long for your affection and want more from you (it works!).
8. MEETING THE PARENTS
Don’t be bothered if your boyfriend doesn’t introduce you to his parents, even if you’ve been together for more than a year already; it’s a big deal for Koreans. In fact, most people introduce their partners to their folks just before they get married.
9. NOT A K-DRAMA
Many girls are misled by Korean dramas. However, real Korean boyfriends are a lot less romantic and more pragmatic than what’s portrayed y media. They’re not fictional characters, they’re men first before they’re Korean, so expect them to behave the way men around the world do.
10. LOVE KNOWS NO NATIONALITY
Embrace cultural differences! They definitely add spice to the relationship. Learn from each other and enjoy your moments! Always remember, love is a gift, regardless of the packaging.

Here you go. I hope you understood the things that are said in here! BTW, the ‘kilig’ means… the feeling you feel when your crush do something sweet to you. I hope you learned something from this. Hwaiting, fan girls! ♥
