Hi! As far as I know, Gizmos have pretty much the same insides as 1998 Furbies. Skinning them might be a little different, but I’ve never done so and can’t verify that!
hello!! i have a question! i know the two-letter stamp on the battery hatch of 1998 furbies means what factory they came from, but is there any associated quality meaning behind them? i know JT is supposedly the factory that made the worst quality furbs, but i’m not too sure of the other ones. thankyou in advance !
Each different factory produced Furbies that are a little different, but usually in way that don’t matter quality-wise. Sometimes the internal design is different, and sometimes the differences are just cosmetic-- JT furbs, for example, are all a little taller and thinner than other furbs!
The only quality differences that I know of are 1) some RL Furbies have what I’ve been calling the RL special edition bug (you can read about it here) and 2) the JT factory had some pretty poor quality control and cut a lot of cost-saving corners, which means that many JT furbs work poorly and/or not at all. I don’t know of any quality differences in WT or GE furbs!
This isn’t to say that you should avoid buying Furbies that you know are JT or RL though; I own plenty of RL furbs that don’t have the bug, and I’ve worked on several JTs that were just fine (if a little quirky)!
