The two vertical eye stalks of the red ghost crab can be swung sideways independently. More specifically a single eye stalk can be lowered sideways by 90 degrees into an oblong furrow in the upper part of the carapace to facilitate its easy and rapid entry, when confronted by predators - human in most instances - into the narrow diameter of its burrow, as can be seen in the first photo, it ready to lunge downwards as I approached, a baleful single eye stalk watching me warily..
In the second photo the beast is snugly ensconced inside the confines of its hole. There is no such thing as claustrophobia in crabs!!!!

Whatever furrow you dig in the red earth, Whatever the tree you hang your lights on, There comes that moment When what you are is what you will be Until the end, no matter What prayer you answer to—

What is The Furrow civilization? It sounds really cool!
Furrow is the largest town in the Silence- an open tundra prone to devastating windstorms and playing host to volcanic hotsprings, a fungal wetlands to the north, and large boneyards from historical mass dieoffs from unknown causes. As you can imagine, living in the Silence is a very dicey proposition even without the presence of bandits and huge predatory animals.
So, the solution is to seek out areas of shelter- and the settlers of this area happened to strike lucky on, well, a furrow.
Specifically, a slot canyon.
Furrow is an extremely vertically oriented civilization that, from the outside, seems like nothing more than a barely-perceptible crack in the ice with a handful of disembodied chimneys sticking out around it. The reality of the bustling, multi-layered community of mostly ibra, etta, and tonsmen stretches deep below the ground, the natural canyon carved out and filled in with the ‘vase’-shaped houses popular with icefolk. The very lowest layer of the town rests on a river, with floating metal walkways, and platforms and ladders conjoin the levels at many points. The meandering, organic nature of the canyon means that some parts of the city are far lower than others, further necessitating its patchwork arrangement.
For its prime defensibility, Furrow entertains great fortune as both a trading hub, and as an area rich in metals. Where the canyon forks and plunges into winding tunnels, there are many mines, although many of those mines were much livelier in the past... Furrow has fallen on hard times recently. Hard winters making their way all the way down to even subterranean farms and the outlying herdsmen struggling to survive see these proud survivalists tying their clothes a little tighter...

Oh boy have I been busy! I wanted to try my hand at the Tarot style art I’ve been seeing and I am REALLY happy with how them turned out. These all together took about 5 days to finish but I have to say I’m really happy! The characters are from an online D&D campaign my younger brother has been running. From top to bottom the cards and characters are as follows; Eli - Judgement (I know I fucked up on the ideology but I only realised once I finished it), Furrow - The Hanged Man, Typhon - The Moon, Maora - The World
