The class zine is OUT!!!!! For FREE! 🌟 16 students and myself contributed 124 pages of furry comics goodness. 📖🦝🦁🐭🦊🐶 All traditional art!
If you want to see examples of what we made in the class this winter, this is the zine for you! 📚
A free digital anthology of the works of students from our furry cartooning class!
AND the at-cost printed copy of the zine is available on Lulu now! It's $19.21 USD, but if you create a Lulu account, you can usually get a %20 off code.
Purchasing a copy does not financially support us! This is mainly so that students could see their own work in print.
The link to that is here!
If you are interested in taking a furry cartooning class like this, please fill out my interest form at furrycartooning.carrd.co! I am teaching this class again this summer (2026)! It's for adults, probably Sunday afternoons EDT, over Discord, 8 sessions again, but 3 hours each this time, and I'll be raising the price to somewhere between $100 and $200.
This was a result from drawing at a coffee shop. It helped that I was sitting next to my boyfriend, who was writing. "Contagious creativity" as Lynda Barry calls the phenomenon. And caffeine. Mmm.
Actually, I tried drawing at the library alone first, without caffeine, and had a worse experience! It was upsetting.
This was the homework after our guest lecture from @outsidewolves. I recommended we try to draw like him - go to a cafe, free draw, and lean into the absurd.
My gay dog characters Thag & Dio showed up. I didn't know I was drawing a comic when I first started drawing Thag playing Pokemon TCG. I know how the comic was going to end until maybe panel 3 or 4.
Furry Cartooning for Amateurs featured a special guest lecture from the one and only @outsidewolves, and he agreed to do a recording of it! Here it is! Enjoy!
These activities I call Doodle Furries and Furry This Is Your Life, which are adapted from Doodle Monsters and Monster This Is Your Life by Lynda Barry. We draw pieces of the furries going in a circle. (This is a fun activity in a group with friends or strangers!) Out of nothing, we get 4 new furry OCs.
The comic below it is done out of order, prompted, one of your new OC's whole life. In under an hour, you have a new character with an entire life story. Our brains are very much wired to tell stories! Prompts and time limits help us make decisions quickly!
