So, wedge did a vid of a recent mono-red vamps deck for standard. In it he mentioned a ruling about the interaction of furyblade and the youths were you discard youths to fury's beginning of combat trigger then swinging with both. It makes sense to me given that you haven't declared attackers yet, but I wanted to make sure and wanted to know when that ruling happened, since he speaks of it like it was super recent. Thanks x3

Yes, you can cast Incorrigible Youths if you discard it to Furyblade Vampire’s triggered ability. Yes, Furyblade Vampire still gets the buff. Yes, you can attack with Incorrigible Youths since they have haste and you cast them before you declared attackers.

Oh, furyblade vampire! a 4/2 with trample is a significant threat on the offense, and red had a few ways to make her even bigger, even in limited. Plus she’s a great madness enabler, and at the end of her stay in standard she had synergy with the other discard-based strategies. She’s just, like, a really good card with a cool, weird spiral sword. Stabs through a bear and shocks a face.

Hi, can Furyblade vampire's ability trigger off a different discard source? Or is it specifically its own cost, independent of other discard sources? The question comes from my confusion between a definitive cost like the Ex: Olivia's dragoon "discard a card : effect" And "You may discard a card, if you do..." Since one is a definitive cost independent of anything else to "activate" And the other is a statement that suggests an action may be taken in order to trigger an effect, Thanks
When you enter the combat phase on your turn, Furyblade Vampire’s triggered ability triggers at the beginning of the Beginning of Combat step. When the trigger resolves, you can discard a card, and if you do, she’ll get +3/+0 until end of turn. This is the only way for her own ability to pump her.
The trigger condition for the ability is entering your beginning of combat step, not discarding a card. The ability triggers no matter what, but it only has an effect if you choose to pay the cost when the trigger resolves.
