As head of HR Pippa hadn’t really needed to get involved, the foundation was separate from the hospital, but at the same time Pippa had known a lot of her colleagues, past and present, would be there so she was grinning to see it going off without a hitch. She turned to the person sitting next to her as she looked around. “Are you enjoying the dinner? I must admit I’ve not been before, I don’t really know what to expect for later.”

“Oh come on darling you look amazing as always so please stop fussing, we’re going to be late enough as it is.” If Lilith could have heard herself, even a few years ago, trying to keep events on time she’d probably have a tantrum about what on earth must have happened to her and at least a part of her was aware of that as she leant on the door frame with a small smile watching Celeste get ready. “You know you’re not one of the nominees this time right?”

“You know I’m starting to understand why you were so terrifyingly strict with new residents.” Zoe muttered as she stopped by the front desk seeing Dr Yang there, it wasn’t that Cristina was any less strict (or terrifying) now that Zoe was an attending herself but she liked to think she’d no longer just bow down... Most of the time. “Are you going to the Harper Avery Dinner tomorrow?”

“Ah, Veronica look who’s that?!” Almost daily Cat was glad that Veronica was still young enough that she could pick her up. Veronica gave a delighted giggle as she saw April and Harriet walking into the garden. “I’m so glad to see you.”

“You know, you would think that after all these years I’d have a better idea but I still always panic about what to wear at events like these. Are you going to the dinner this weekend?” Whilst Cat had RSVPed as yes and even found a sitter she was still swaying on whether she would actually attend. The dinner in question was very soon and she still looked for an excuse.

“You know I must admit I don’t understand why lawyers are invited to events like these.” Lilith was half teasing, what may have come out as a biting criticism usually had softened, slightly. “Are you here to make sure we all behave?”

“You know, I hate to say it but I’m almost glad you didn’t win a couple of years ago.” Zoe may have matured but that didn’t mean she couldn’t be a little tactless, even with those that were closest with her. She quickly caught herself though and scrambled to correct it. “What I mean is I don’t think I would have been able to steal you away otherwise.”
