now I keep thinking about what if that drabble WAS canon like

What would lead Fae into basically following exactly what his father did and actually marrying the princess even though that's not what he wants

What would lead to the kingdom kind of falling apart and some nearby kingdom offering to help

And this hurting Fae's pride so much he'd rather go to war over it than accept their help.

Maybe something else is going on and war is the right choice but Fae can't express this for some reason?

And him just HAVING TO STAND THERE AND ACCEPT GILBART'S RESIGNATION BECAUSE HE CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT
