Reasons why Ai is bad

Since nowdays we hear that a lot, yet nobody really seems to get it, I tried to give you a short yet easy to understand explonation, for my short attention spawn rookies

1. Addictive

Ai is not a new thing, and Im suprised how many people dont know this. For example YouTube which was released in 2005 has been using its algorytm for years now which is operated by ai. Tiktok does so too. To sum it up, it collects all the data about you; what you comment under, what you type of posta abour what you like the most, etc. With that knowledge it gives you things you find most interesting for the best dopamine rush, making you use their app more often and for longer.

2. Stealing art

Ai itself cannot create new images. What it does is take already existing work of artists and moving them together, creating an image to your liking. People generally teached ai how to make images by stealing art from aritsts they didnt even pay nor credit.

3. Stealing jobs

Ai can do many tasks for us, but if it does our job how will we be payed? Heres a list from Microsoft study on the top 40 jobs that will most likely to be replaced by ai (first photo) and as an extra top 40 things ai wont most likely replace (2nd photo)

Whats concerning me a lot is how jobs said to be replaced are things many people want to do out of passion; such as artists, historicans etc. And things that it wont replace that most people dont enjoy, such as cleaners or dishwasher.

Of course it’s most likely because one has to pay more a translator than a cleaner, so it’s more profound to replace them. However I do find it quite dissapointing, as when we accept ai in our daily lives Id like it to do things I dislike so I can focus on things I enjoy, not vice versa, and Im sure Im not the only one who thinks this way.

4. Destroying our critical thinking skills & 5. Making us feel lonely

Since internet was created people were using editing apps to photoshop people they dislike into embarassing situations and post them online. With ai so advanced now you dont even need skill or a lot of time to do so, which makes it more accesable and so on dangerous

7. Its shitty for the enviroment

Because of many reasons. For example ai data centres need a lot of energy and water to be cooled down.

8. Misinformation

Ai such as chatgpt is programmed in a way that if it does not know the answer to your question instead of admitting so it’ll make up it’s own answer. Thats why Ai is not a reliable source of information.

9. Chatbot psychosis

10. Frauds 

Three years ago ai couldnt even make decent pictures, nowdays ais such as sora ai can create whole episodes of cartoons indistinguishable from real art. The question is, how far will it go in the next Three years? What if we can’t tell ai apart not only from animation but also from reality, will people start excusing their recorded crimes as ai generated? Will people generate videos of others commiting crimes?

That being said, it’s not that there arent good sides to ai. Its more so that theres just more bad sides than bright sides.

It's also important to note that AI development is expected to raise ethical questions, such as data privacy, security, and job displacement.
