World Trigger Fic - Even a drop of water wears through stone [Gen]

Title: Even a drop of water wears through stone Characters: Jin, Hairoein Summary: Jin falls into enemy hands and waits for what he can’t see.

Author notes: We were betting on who’d be on the cover of volume 13 so this is me paying the winners their due because it wasn’t Azuma-san orz

Written for @future-trigger‘s request: the combination of Jin and angst...If you want something more specific, I'd love to see a Jin/Hairein interaction, whether they're battling or Jin's gotten captured by him or whatever 

Honestly, Hairoein’s probably smart enough to think of a way more effective way to get Jin onto his side than this. But the request was for angst so angst it is :D

Jin sits placidly on the chair, listening to the sound of his own breathing. He hasn’t moved since the interrogator had left, his cheek still throbbing from the pain. Strictly speaking, there is no reason why Jin has to stay where he is, nothing restrains him against the chair, but Jin doesn’t budge – not even to take off the sweat-stained blindfold sticking to his skin. He knows what game they are playing, and he won’t be the one to break the stalemate.

The door clicks quietly as it opens. Jin can feel his body stiffen and forces himself to relax. He knows who it is. Who it always is. He doesn’t need to fear physical violence from Hairoein.

“How are you feeling?” Hairoein asks kindly. “I brought you dinner.”

“I’m not very hungry,” Jin demurs, knowing it won’t work. They would never do something as irresponsible as letting him starve to death.

“You need to keep your strength up.” For tomorrow, Hairoein leaves unsaid. There is the quiet clatter of cutlery and then the sensation of a spoon resting against his lips. Jin opens his mouth because one force-feeding is already more than he can stand. He has lost this battle, but he hasn’t yet lost the war.

Jin concentrates on the food as he tries to chew around a swelling jaw and lets the silence fill the empty spaces inside him. He will need to gather his strength for what’s coming. It is a mark of how formidable Hairoein is that a conversation with him unravels Jin more than an interrogation ever could. But then Hairoein wields so much more power than the interrogator ever did.

It feels like no time at all before Jin feels him lean away again, more clattering of cutlery as Hairoein tidies away the dishes. The food was as bland as always, already slipping away from his memories as Jin braces himself for what is coming. He can hear the armrests creak and makes himself loosen his grip bit by bit. These slips in control are becoming more frequent now.

The rustle of cloth brings Jin back to present as Hairoein’s presence looms over him once more, closer this time. Jin can feel the weight of a hand through the blindfold as it presses over his eyelids. “Won’t you see for me?” Hairoein asks kindly, always so kindly.

Jin forces the corners of his lips up, wide enough to hurt. “I must decline.”

Hairoein sighs, a small disappointed sound. Jin notes dispassionately the guilt welling up inside him and files it away. Something as basic as food and shelter, and the illusion of safety, is not a debt Jin needs to pay back. Not with his side effect. He hasn’t forgotten this. Not yet.

“If you would only cooperate, I can make your time here so much more comfortable,” Hairoein continues, undaunted.

“Please don’t trouble yourself,” Jin replies. He doesn’t want to owe Hairoein anymore than he already does. He doesn’t owe Hairoein anything.

The weight over Jin’s eyes turn gentle, sliding over the blindfold and traveling up to smooth lank hair away from Jin’s forehead. “They are getting impatient,” Hairoein says quietly, as if admitting it hurts him. “I simply want what is best for you.”

Jin doesn’t need Yuuma’s side effect to know Hairoein is telling the truth. That’s what makes him so dangerous. “What is best for me in this nation you mean.”

“Oh of course,” Hairoein agrees. “Such a splendid side effect belongs with Aftokrator.” The hand is back over his eyes, pressing down even harder, hard enough to hurt. “Or no one at all.”

One day, Jin will break. He will give in. He has seen it. But he won’t see Hairoein’s future before that. And until then, the future moves – is always moving. Help is on its way.

5 favorite characters: Osamu(I bet you didn’t see that coming), Yuma, Chika, Jin, Replica

3 OTPs: The things is that though I ship (potentially many) ships I don’t really have otps (just look at how many people I ship Osamu with). I’m also neutral about 90% of ships in every fandom because shipping is not my main source of entertainment but here are some ships I quite like: Yuma/Osamu, Jin/Bonchiage, Chika/Happiness+Success

Funniest character: Ninomiya. At all times, I have the urge to make fun of Ninomiya. Is it his ridiculous attire(give him a fedora Ashihara and make him a true Camorrista), his ridiculous(ly rude) attitude or his ridiculous behaviour(*dramatic hair flick*, *hand on his side/hip during fights*,  ONE HAND IN his POCKET during fights). No, it’s all of that.  

Please also look at his ludicrously shaped Asteroid(bottom right). And never forget the Men’s fashion label logo that is the “Milky Crown” Squad Emblem.  I like to imagine him with this face . I know that he’s (somewhat) pitiful but I’m very sorry, there’s no way I can ever stop making fun of Ninomiya, except maybe if he dies. That personality of his also creates a (somewhat amusing) contrast with his extreme efficiency and rationality during combat.

Prettiest character: I honestly don’t know. If Black Triggers were characters I’d say Organon(ha ha ha) or Alektor. Or Fuujin. But alas they’re only the remnants of the dead(aside from being weapons). It’s not as if I don’t find any of the actual characters pretty. But I don’t want to rank them, as they’re for the most part equally pretty to me. Let’s go with a compromise and say Kako Nozomi

Most badass character: Osamu. In my opinion there are three kinds of mindsets that breed ”fearlessness”: Not valuing one’s life. Utter blind conviction in one’s beliefs. And lastly overwhelming confidence/assurance in case of failure. Osamu frequently doubts himself and obviously values his life. One of the major problems he faces is his lack of Trion. There is a seemingly insurmountable wall between him and the others because there are things he lacks which he might never be able to make up for. Still, he never once thinks of giving up. Still, he doesn’t hesitate to lay down his life, even when given the opportunity to escape. In other words he possesses the ability and mindset to conquer obstacles many others would utterly fail at, despite not being naturally gifted to do so. I think that’s really impressive. His situation reminds me of the story of the carp attempting to jump over Dragon’s Gate that I read in the past.  I also think it’s impressive that Osamu is one of the youngest- if not the youngest- Squad leaders in all of BORDER and a better tactican than Nasu and Kuruma(and possibly Suwa and Arafune) despite that.

Character I’d like as my BFF: Maybe Karasuma? I tend to try and work as much as possible and though my family isn’t exactly poor I’ve been raised to be very frugal(in childhood I also wore a lot of my brother’s hand me downs). I’m also rather close to my family and like teasing those that I know well. As such I feel like we have something in common. Maybe we could work part-time together haha. Coincidentally we also have the same birthday

Tiny Jin and his BIG BANANA(literally)

Dear Tay:

I did the thing, just like you asked :D ! (photos are my own because I couldn’t find any anywhere) Click for captions ;). This was way more difficult than I thought because tiny Jin CAN’T STAND ON HIS OWN (kind of obvious by the size of his head vs. his feet)

(W H Y does Jin have Kogetsu on this figure?? He is canonly a Scorpion user and Fuujin definitely does not look like that.

W H Y does it look like a banana? Kogetsu’s name apparently means “Arc Moon“ but the blade isn’t that curved? And the shape does look different. Must be the material.)

EDIT: According to chippokenabokura, this IS supposed to be Fuujin which makes it even more hilarious: imagine the banana sprouting blades.

Anyway, NOW imagine Jin fighting Tachikawa with this thing 8D! Or EVEN better imagine Tachikawa fighting with banana-shaped weaponry too(double-wielding).
