A poem of appreciation to our tutorial leader: nerdy - yes! but that is what med school does to you
Physiology was tough
But you helped make our brains buff
Not to the point of swelling of the dome
We utilized our aldosterone
Yet we were often wall stressin’
About hormones like vasopressin
When it came to lung compliance
Our memories often showed defiance
However you always made us understand
Sodium and water move hand in hand
Each time you described LaPlace’s Law
We were left with a sense of awe
WOW look at that LV contractility
Are we gaining some physio ability?
Now we can explain emphysema
And the problems of pulmonary edema
Always watch for a pressure of twenty
When you have fluids aplenty
When you’re running a marathon and get volume depleted
Don’t drink plain water- your brain will be defeated
We mastered the intricacies of the heart
And then learned about why we fart
You always brought us tasty granola snacks
To stave off those hypoglycemic attacks
Thus tutorial was pretty cool
Even when learning about stool
One day when we’re in the hospital
Physiology will make us unstoppable
But thanks to you we won't look like such jokes**
When we are rocking our short white coats
Cheers to learning (and lots of caffeine),
Many thanks! Your physiology tutorial of 2014
** unless we continue to make poems like these
our attendings will think we have a mental disease
